It will be nice to actually touch both feet to the ground and a lot easier to pick up than a KLR My nephew has been invited to join in on the fun on his DRZ. It is his first street legal bike and will be his first group ride outside of a closed course. I hope to get in some rides with him before May and school him on the rules. Ken
Nice looking ride Yarddog

I just looked at the first post and the track link. It points to the 2011 SBR.

Use the ones from 2012.....I doubt if there is any difference but I know the 2012 version is a final final as we say at work.

And make sure you read Bigdog's warning message on the 2nd post - he always cracks me up but that turn will get you if you're not ready.

Oh we'll be gentle--------I wish you tube hadn't deleted that video I had of Ashley creek that one year. Water was up to the top of the wheels and if you fell over you'd immediately fill your motor full of water. I crossed it twice last year and there was not one drop of water in it---------I was mortified. But it's usually not dry. And it's a long, long, long way across it.

Hey Mark! I have been perusing your site for weeks and am envious of all your adventures. I raced MX, HS, WORCs & enduros for years and the kness have just gotten too creaky to continue. I decided some "heavy" DS riding would keep me at least somewhat active. I'll look forward to meeting some of these characters in May.

Big Dog was talking about the steep stairs going down Devils Well in that post. Reminded me that the last time I was there I was glad I was wearing my Roadcrafter. Slipped going down those stairs and the suit saved me from any pain.

Those stairs were getting in dis-repair. And since the states are so broke----I think I heard they gated off the stairs and you can't go down there----not super sure---but I think I read that somewhere-----too bad---it was so cool.

Mark

Edit----------yep it's closed for repairs---found it on the net.

That is a shame. The first time I was there I think they were wooden and then the ones I slipped on were steel and seemed to be in good shape.

Question can't decide??

If I can get off work, I'd love to check out this ride. Here's the question. Which would be a better choice for this ride? 800xc or DRZ400??

I would ride the one with the most comfortable seat

Either will work Jimbeamer---------the 400 would be better I think------you'll never have to worry about struggling anywhere with it. But if you had to ride 500 miles to the ride---the 800 would shine.

If the water is up---and it might be---------filling the 800's motor full of water wouldn't be any fun. I always feared filling my 950KTM full of water------that's an all day deal if your lucky.

I usually ride a 250---but may bring my 450EXC. The norm----------is 650's and smaller---although bigger bikes do it with no problem.
