KTM LC4 Rear Shock Interchangeability Questions
Hey guys I poked around the site for a while but did not find what I was looking for.
I have a 97 KTM 620 RXCe with a stock WP rear shock. Recently I noticed that the lower shock mount on the shock has a hairline fracture. Naturally, being broke and cheap, I put it back on and kept riding. That said, I've had this nagging feeling that I'm temping fate on my 180 mile commute. My gut thinks that any LC4 with a prolink suspension (duke excluded) should be compatible. Does a shock from a different KTM bolt in? Two stroke shocks from the same era are really cheap, about as cheap as I am.

I thought about that but I'm worried since the fracture goes all the way through. I imagine I'd have to remove a bit of metal to get a decent weld.

I guess I spent too long wrenching in dealerships and am quick (kinda) to replace.
I'll pull it off and bring it to my machinist. Maybe if I ask him nice, he'll let me repair it myself and not charge me. A fully equipped and open to students machine shop is one of the best perks of grad school. I just have to claim the shock is somehow education related. Hell, I use the bike to collect rock samples, perfect. "Without repairing this, I can't graduate. Now wheres your tig welder?"
