Did a few upgrades to the bike. The covers and the extensions. Had I had the extensions, I believe the damage would have been far less extensive. I put these on my son's bike and have ordered a pair for mine.

Noticed that my gap on the left side between the cooler and the bar isn't as much as the right side. I took the precaution of zip tying some rubber in case they touch.
![]() This was a result of a calculated risk to not replace the front extension frame. It saved me hundreds. If you look closely at the plastics when bolted on, you could maybe notice a discrepancy in some of the gaps. However, it looks good and is functional for a bike that has a salvaged title. Great original post brother. Glad the pilot is ok, right?
Very neat project on a great bike. The end result will be something you know more about than you might have ever cared to, but there will be more attachment and appreciation for the beast as a result, me thinks ![]() Remember, safety first, wear protection & keep us updated..... |

I did this post because I was looking for such a post and couldn't find one. I hope that in the future someone faced with a similar decision can learn. Yes..major benefits to rebuilding your own bike. Ill talk about this in a concluding post where I highlight finances, total parts list and learnings. |

I'm finally done buying parts. Here is an exhaustive list of all expenditures (new parts and used). In upcoming posts ill share finances and big learnings. I am including all of this not because I want Internet fame but because I couldn't find something like this when I needed it. I hope someone down the line profits from this project. Here is Learning #1: There are ALWAYS MORE PARTS NEEDED THAN YOU EXPECT!

After running the bike for 100 high rpm miles I have good news and bad news. The bike has truly never run better. However there is some micro pinhole in the bottom of the oil cooler that I can't even see. I know it is there because I wrapped and zip tied paper towels around various segments of the oil system. I had seepage in the fore mentioned area.
I have a used cooler on the way. I just wish I hadn't wasted money at the welder. |

Dang!
That is good yet baad. ![]() At least you know the end solution to the problem by the sounds of it. That is excellent that it's running well--that would be gratifying. |

Yes. You are right. I was a bit bummed but then realized that the biggest X Factors (bad engine damage, bike pulling because of unseen bent elements, etc.) were passed with flying colors. I should be ecstatic with the grand picture in mind.

The rat bastard from England sent me a cooler that has a mount bent! It obviously is off of another wrecked bike. He told me it was a rear end collision. I'm pressure testing it to see if it leaks while bitching for a refund.

![]() This is what was on the backside of the towel. I've blown it and wiped it several times. It is hard to know if this is fresh oil being blown out of a hole or if it is still residue from the fins from when it was shipped. The oil inside the cooler flowed out and filled the zip lock bag I was shipped in. What do you all think? |

i thought you bought it through ebay. ebay does not care what country but that its policies are followed. also there is ebay protection.
I would wash the exterior with a good detergent. let it dry then powder it with baking soda or flour so there is some powder residue on the cooler. run like you did before. the oil will show up on the white residue before it drips onto the paper towel. hope that helps.

this might be a stupid suggestion.. but
are both connectors barbed hose ends on your cooler? ( I ask because my 1995 bike has threaded fittings) if they are barbed, Id goto your local auto parts store and buy a "stacked plate" transmission cooler that fits the hole and be done with it.
