Hope everyone had a nice day of riding! Damn, if I didn't have to double back for cell service to double check the previous Tag location , I was hoping to pass RAT along once or twice today.

You'll didn't have to swing wide for an RV when you were headed up Squirrel Spur did you?

Nice drop BTW.

Heh, actually, there was a big travel trailer at the top that needed their half of the middle.

Squirrel Spur was pretty clean (and we had it ourselves on the way up ), and the parkway in that section was clean (just a little snow left in some of the shadows). Route 8 on the way down had some pretty dirty corners that would have made me nervous if we hadn't been stuck behind the slowest truck of all time.

Heading north!

After much deliberation, I took a late afternoon gamble to see if RAT was sill in his hiding spot after sleeping off yesterday’s drink! Thanks for the heads up on Route 8, Am.E! There were several spots of sand that could have caused trouble had I not been on the lookout.
Made it down to the Smith River Dam, and to my surprise, nobody had made a grab of RAT!

I figured RAT had slept so well with the sounds of water so I should probably keep him near some water source. I wandered back north, taking 220 to Henry Rd., then on to Franklin St. This led to Shooting Creek Rd. and eventually the BRP. From there I ended up back in Floyd started back up Route 8 toward Christiansburg.

For RAT’s next spot, I figured I would give him some cover. I intended to take him to what was once called “Salt Pond,” where the Innkeepers there will “Put you on top of the world.” In the interest of time I left him at the bottom of that road with some nice cover in a bridge.

Rat can be found in the center of the bridge on the up-stream side under some leaves.

Grabbed the Rat from the covered bridge just off Rt.700, Mountain Lake Rd.

Took him up Big Stoney Creek to the Whistle Stop.

The Rat burrowed in the gravel under the caboose.

Yes he did and my apologies to all. I grabbed the tag on Wednesday with full intentions of dropping it later that day or early on Thursday. Got behind on prepping for Laurel Forks and never got the chance to place RAT. I was going to give him a ride from Laurel Forks, but the weather was not helpful. Any way, new tag to follow.

New tag. Took a route out of Roanoke on 460 east. Took a left onto Camp Jaycee Road. One more turn after that.

Turn here

Pass this on your left

You can see the gate ahead

Behind the gate

Behind the sign

Rat is under the rock

I thought I recognized that KLR at Laurel Forks but couldn't find the operator.
