A true gentleman! I say plant the RAT, Davo, and let's keep this going. I live in the NW part of the territory and am hoping to get the chance to lure some of you folks up this way.

How about some stream crossings? High-speed sweepers? Good gravel roads? Asphalt back roads? Fun, fun, fun! Let's go!

Well'p if the guy that rode multi hour round trip last night to get the pig rat feels Davo has it, then I'm ok with that. The problem in lies with the fact that I could go find the original mascot, and then derail the game. After multiple "bruced" but not really bruced riders, and multiple days, both myself and mostly tallbob went to great lengths to keep it rolling, not that Davo didnt put out great effort. Technically speaking, tallbob had the duty to get a new mascot many days ago once the 1st 24 hours was up. If the Ms Rat was found in that first 24 hours, then the rules would have been observed. Like I said though, tall bob is cool with Ms Rat continuing, and obviously the majority. Go for a ride Davo!

Cool beans. Look for a new tag later this afternoon.

New tag

Mighty fine riding to get to this tag.

Great views also

You will see the gate when you get there. Walk around the gate on the left side

Go all the way around

I

Looking from the back side

See RAT? Snug in her two Baggie blanket?
Covered her with gravel

Clue shot. This should get you there

Forgot to mention..The area is closed from sunset to sunup, but I do not think they actually close the gates.

Found the Rat at Craig Creek Rec Area. Great place to ride a dual sport to.

Didn't take the Rat too far. In Craig Co. there is a paved road (3 digits adds up to 12) that goes over the mountains between Price Mt. and Caldwell Mt. and goes toward Fincastle. Before you get to Botetourt Co. there is a National Forest Rd. 5064 go to the end to the overlook.

The rat is hiding under the rock.

Same route I took to plant the RAT. Another great road in the area.

Riding from the Fincastle side it has everything. Lots of twisties, lots of riding under the cool shade of tree canopies, lots of riding along side a cooling mountain stream. At the top of the ridge, before you either descend towards Fincastle or Patterson Creek area, I took my first deer during rifle season many years ago. Hiked up the ridge a few hundred yards and sat down. Saw a doe within 1/2 hour, but it was not doe season. Later I heard a ruckus from below, saw a couple of squirrels playing in the leaves. Just a minute later, a spike buck comes along. The 25.06 was overkill, but the deer did not suffer. Downhill drag made it easy. Beautiful area, worth the ride!
