Ducati North America Update - They Came Through !!!!!f
Just got off the phone with Customer Service. Nice lady named Jer called me earlier to "follow-up". I told her all was well with the bike, but I had the outstanding expenses from my weekend when the bike crapped out.
She suggested I FAX her my receipts...
Ducati NA is paying me:
$47.50 (ish) Hotel - 1 night of 2, since I bailed when the bike died.
$30+ for gas for the truck to get the bike back.
$362 for the rental truck to get the bike and me home.
Nice. I'm happy, and I need to sing the Ducati NA praises as much as I blasted them earlier.
They've done the right thing, paid their dues, and kept a customer.
Tail of the Dragon at Deal's Gap... Avoid it now, do a trackday.
Do not do business with Myrtle West Cycle... Not a reputable vendor by a long shot.

I must say that your experience gave me pause when considering Ducati products. It's nice to hear of a company backing their products.
