Question HELP! I don't speak GPS!

Wow, after reading a few of the threads about the Montana or the Zumo 340/350 I realize that even though I currently own 6 Garmins, 3 that no longer work, that I know next to nothing about what I need for a specific application, so......I'm going to the experts on the forum.

I need to know what motorcycle specific GPS to buy to be able to download the tracks from (specifically) the BDR - Backcountry Discovery Routes website.

I've never had a GPS that was capable of the downloads so I don't know what I don't know.

Please give me your recommendation of which unit to get and why, in layman's terms. I really appreciate it, and so will my riding buddies, as my turn by turn hand mapping of a 650 mile route (offroad) was a real PITA to create AND follow!

Thanks for your help!

My understanding is the 340/350 doesn't do imported tracks so that might be a deal breaker.

Garmin Montana if the budget allows
Garmin 78 for West Marine for slightly less $$.

Both need maps and the 78 will need an inexpensive mount (and optional power cable).

This has been discussed over and over but the bottom line is;

Tracks not routes or an .img file if you know how.

The 350/340 does not display tracks, so if that is what you need, then the 350 is out.

The Montana will display tracks.

The Zumo 660 and 665 do display tracks, I think.

Good morning 4corners14,

You might find this information helpful.

Regarding maps, whether City Navigator or TOPO, this information should prove useful.

Good luck,

Actually nothing to do with Motorcycles. Any hand held e-trex/60/76/78/Montana will accept tracks and is what most seriouis dirt rider use. Montana is probably "the" crossover unit for dirt bikes, adv bikes, cars.
