The TE 449/511 are rooted in the BMW 450 and the new TR650 Terra from the G650 BMW - wonder what's gonna power the next gen Husqvarna?
With KTM being owned by Bajaj.... the next Huskies will probably get the Enfield Bullet 350

The X Lite in the 250/310 is sure a sweet motor, hope it sticks around.

This is bad news in my opinion: If the deal goes through I don't think KTM will build Huskies that will compete with its line up.

I suspect Husky will become ktms budget brand

Seems odd, doesn't it? KTM already has Husaberg. Is this just an elimination of competitors or what? I was impressed with Husqvarna's performance at Dakar this month for what appeared to be their first serious attempt at the event. The oddest part is that BMW seems to be at a point where they should start reaping their financial efforts with the product.

I'd like to see a Terra/690R fornication come out of this

The huskys I rode recently at the PJs ride day felt really nice, great suspension. I didn't ride the hotrod model but I heard it ran well.

Isn't it possible that the moto press simply got it wrong?

What will this mean for Husky's small engine line? A KTM leaf blower?

KTM will deal with Husky the same why that is deals with Husaberg. Maybe keep a shell of it around to support sales and use as a platform for trying out new ideas. But other than that, Husky is dead.
Even look within KTM's own line up. Bikes doesn't live long in the KTM stable. 950 SER was a direct answer to BMW's R1200R enduro. The 640 adventure was modeled after something (hell I don't know) maybe a Dakar race bike or the KLR. But it's no longer here. They invent models all the time. Most are very short lived.

As far as I can tell this will be good news for lesser brands like GasGas.
