Feels kinda funny at this point since all I have basically done is build what could have been bought from the factory, with the exception of the rear AC unit. (And saved $10-20k in the process)

Did a little strategic window tinting today. I wanted a bit more privacy than the factory tint offered and I wanted to keep it cooler inside for my dogs and soon to be born daughter.


The front windows were clear. Now they are at 30%.

Since you look back through the slider and rear window when driving we only did 20% darker man those.

The rest of the windows that you can't/don't really look through when driving were limo tinted.

What the hell is that color on the 928? Ack!

The color on the 928 is called Elfenbein Perlglanz.
Paint code is 11H on the Glasurit site.
Translated means Elephant Bone with a pearl effect.

This particular car is a 1988 928 S4,
and it is a copy of the 10th anniversary showcar
presented in Frankfurt Germany in 1987.
So there are only 2 of them .

You will never see this color on any other Porsche ,
unless you happen to find either the 1987 924S or the 911S,
that was part of the Porsche display for the 1987 Frankfurt auto show.

The 928 in the picture still wears its original paint.
It also has a full leather interior , the color is Pearl Gray.
The car was restored at Motorsport in SLC UT in 2005

BTW your the first person that i have heard to not like this color,
most people that see it in person really are intrigued with the unusual coloring that each panel makes as the sun hits it
the car has won more than a few best of shows.

NOTE the color of the 911s in the background is called Ice Green

Ant thoughts on the shades...I looked into changing ny MV snap in shades like yours to the slide type used in the MV Weekender and couldnt find anyine who actualy did it

Do yours snap all the way around? Mine slide on the traditional Westfalia rails at the top and only snap a the sides.

You're doing a fantastic job on your Eurovan. Trying to remodel my just purchased 2002 Eurovan Winnebago Camper after having sold my BMW/sidecar rig. But was told not to model it over as it would crash the resale value of the Camper.



Got 115k on the engine; everything is in the original....! Am looking to add these cool wheels you got. Mind telling me from whom you got these! Good Luck with your renovation and let us know....what else you did!

Had those also, hated having to pull all my shades out of a box and snap them in place. Just to be clear I also sold my van about a year ago.
