I have no plans on hitting Moab proper this trip. Look for our camp spot with the black box and pop-up. Should be along Ruby Rd.

A couple years ago my son and I starting in on Metal Masher and he was doing real well, but the other kids in the group weren't so we turned around. I might try and take him back there to see if we can complete it. If we do we will be riding from camp (WW) all the way there and all the way back on bikes . If we attempt that it will be our longest day and it will be the closest to town we will probably get.

But what good does that do when the front wheel rarely touches the ground?

Sorry, couldn't help myself..

I've ridden with a group from Moab to WW. It was an all-day thing. SteveO made a great video with a lot of footage from that day

I'm showing 80 miles round trip. That may be pushing it for a 12 year old. I think the most we've done in a day is 58 miles.

Chase says he's up for the 80 mile trip. I don't trust his judgement. We'll have to play that one by ear.

Ride looks like a great route. Can you gas up at Archview or do you veer that far East?

We plan to arrive Saturday morning (3/23). Will keep our eyes peeled and will plan to join you. We're in a silver Ford and white V-nose 5x10.

Is that the campground at Hwy 91 and 313?

Yes. They have gas, ice, water, propane, and some small food-stuff.

We stayed in a cabin there in Oct' of 12 for a few nights, but I prefer dispersed camping or other campgrounds...this one is a bit cramped.

The sovereign trail system can be accessed out the back though. My lat 40 map shows that you could make a pretty good loop with this as the Southern most point. You could cross the road at the Gemeni Bridges TH and and then again at the Monitor and Merimac TH. Might be a heck of a loop, but at least could stop for food, treats, and top off tanks. Hmm.

Just drive to Dripping Springs, It'll take a good 20 miles off of your trip. It's a lot of road anyway unless you want to take the little one on stuff harder than MM.

What are yall doing for about gas? I can bring 10 gallons, but that's not going to last us the whole trip. Does someone have a large fuel carrying capacity at camp or will we need to make trips to town?

Yeah, 7 gallon extra tank capacity here.

We are arriving Saturday and making a trip to town mid-week. We'd be happy to fill containers for folks. I think we're going to break up the trip with a hike in Canyonlands or Arches too, so we could grab gas then. The Delicate Arch hike is a short one and is always good at sunset (rocks looks the most red).
