Interesting. Going through this thread I found contradicting information:

- The video right in the beginning says it's clear anodized.
- In this thread Rob said a few times that they aren't anodized.

So, what's true now?

My impressions are they weren't anodized. I don't mind they aren't but if they just happen to be then all the better.

When we initially started importing them it was a bit ambiguous. We've been able to confirm the finish with GlobeScout as 'natural' i.e. not clear anodized.

The higher magnesium content does help cut down on the black smudging, but it does not eliminate it. We've had reports (and pictures earlier in this thread) of it. We recommend the inner liners and/or frequent cleaning.

I've discussed a clear anodized product with GlobeScout prior, but there is no timetable for that to be done.

That's no problem with me. Mine will be covered in stickers on the inside plus I ordered the bags.

They are NOT clear anodized. If you've experienced the black marks on everything left in the panniers, then you'll be pleased that these leave very little marks on your gear. I have the 1200GSA set and purchased 2 Mountainsmith Basic Cube bags from ebags which were $12.99 each shipped at the time http://www.ebags.com/product/mountai...ic-cube/132623 They seem made for the panniers in every way. All my gear goes inside them and I just pull them out when at my destination. The outsides of them have very little discoloration from the inside of the panniers.

Props to Rob

A big thank you to Rob and everyone out there who helps you!

I was a little worried about getting my boxes, ordering them back in May for a trip I planned to take this coming week. I expected my boxes sometime last month but as we all know everything that could have happened during Rob's shipment, did.

Well Rob got the boxes in and he managed to get them drilled and shipped to me rather quickly. I received them yesterday, put them on my bike today and they are incredible.

Now all I have to do is pack! Thanks again Rob and everyone at advdepot!

Any idea when you'll open up the Pre-Order for the Black "45L R1200GS Specials"?

I know they'll be a while, but I'd like to get my order in (to go with my new top box).

Thx,
jw

Photos of new GlobeScout 40L Top Box (Case) and Mount on my BMW R1200GS. As you can see, Fit and Finish are top notch.

Note: I've since installed the back rest but forgot to take photos.

The best way to get me is via email - customerservice at motorcycleinsight dot com. I don't have set hours at the shop - I'm generally there every day erratically. If you're looking to talk to someone Paul and/or Tony are there Tue,Wed,Thur,Sat from 12-6.

There are going to be some pretty large changes in September as well, in a good way. My full time job is as an IT Director for a rather large law firm. With Bill passing away in May (the primary employee of the shop) we're continuing to pitch in for now.

That looks really good.

Say, how hard / scratch resistant is the anodizing on the black cases? I'll order some for my coming 2014 GS soon and from the "looks" perspective, it would definitely be black for the thundergrey GS, but from the scratch resistance and long term looks I tend towards the natural.

What do you think?

And Rob, what do you think about the scratch resistance of the anodizing?
