more globescout images...

I posted this in the luggage thread, but maybe it would be more useful here for this considering Globescouts... Here's a link to the original post.

Installed the Hepco & Becker racks and the 45L panniers on the TEX the other day. Absolutely love the way they look...at least for now while they're clean. Installation was a breeze. A couple of things I want to point out: one that the instructions indicate there is a an adapter that hooks into the back of the rack and that it should be with the panniers. This is not the case for these cases. In case anyone else wonders. They are not with the panniers nor are they required.

The other thing I was wondering, and maybe it's just me, but is the anti-theft locking cap for the racks not completely useless as far as adding anti-theft protection? Possibly why I don't see it on your website Paul.

Anyway I'm a very happy camper, Paul was great to deal with and has been very responsive to any emails I've sent his way. I did post some of these in the Tiger 1200 thread but I thought I would add them here also.

We are very close to having all of the final details for the new GSA panniers. Globescout is working with the final prototype and as soon as it is given the thumbs up, we will have official photos, specs, and pricing listed here in this thread and on our site to be available for pre-order.

Until we have all of the official details, here is what we know that we can share with you:
  • GS-A special system for the OEM racks will be available in 45L only, however the overall width will be less that our existing 45L set for the standard GS-W.
  • We will be phasing out our existing 45L special systems with the globescout frames. 35L special systems will be available with the globescout frames only.
  • The new 45L GS-A system can be fitted to standard GS-W's using the OEM GS-A frames
  • We will also have a GS-A specific topcase rack to fit the OEM luggage rack. Globescout has come up with a very clever design to retain the stock steel tube luggage rack.
  • Clear anodized finish...who really cares for that? ;-)

Maybe this was mentioned earlier and I missed it, if so I apologize. Will these mount on the 800 GSA racks?

So it sounds like the GSA specials will be fitted to the GSA OEM rack, but is there the ability to configure the adapters to fit another rack later (I.e. One gets bent or damaged, and wanna try another brand).

Thx, Rob

Hey Fozzy, sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately the F800GSA racks are different and take their own specific bags (You think BMW would've been wise and made the racks to fit the existing R12GS Adventure cases). I assume that the angle and size of the cutout are too different between the 800 and 1200 GS's.

If we continue to receive requests for the 800GSA, we will attempt to make a special system for that bike, though at the moment I do not think that there is a ton of these bikes out there. I'm sure many will prove me wrong though ;-)

Feel free to IM me if you have any further questions.

Thank you,

Hi Rob,

Unfortunately this cases will be unique to the GSA rack, and most likely will not work with another brand's rack. It may be possible for LH case to be reconfigured ( the mounting brackets would need removed from the back of the case and new mounting pucks installed) but until we see the final product, that is a speculation.

Thanks,

April Shipment

So as I know a lot of you have been patiently waiting on your orders, I just wanted to quickly update everyone that our order that was originally estimated to be in by the end of April will be delayed as Globescout is just working on finishing producing the order.

Globescout is being extra cautious with the 2013+ GS-W systems, and matching the luggage racks to their corresponding pannier sets to be certain that the tolerances are perfect. Once the order is finished and put on the container ship, I will make sure to update all of you with a more accurate ETA for when they should arrive.

As always, if anyone has any questions, please IM me for details.

Thank you,
