Scott, you're better than you think. Don't wring your hands so much about roads. If it's too much, turn around and go back.
(I can relate because I've always done the same thing.)

BTW, lunch Friday?

Some see a full moon and marvel at its light,,

I howl at the fucker!

Think Saturday Night....Hart Mountain is only 303 miles away. Talked my brother and a friend of his from Medford to ride out there Saturday night to howl at the moon also. Hope we can see it!!!

Got stuck in the mud attempting to get through Ashwood Rd. It's pouring down rain and there's this slick 3'' layer of slimy mud on top of loose dry dirt. it was like riding on ice, but messier. We tried backtracking then heading south to Prineville, but it was even worse. Ultimately headed back to Madras and a warm dry motel room to dry out our gear. We'll see what tomorrow brings...

Suckage !!! I was hoping this rain hadn't made it over there. It has been way wetter here than they called for. If it doesn't rain anymore tonight you might skip Ashwood road and hit Gosner at Ashwood. Check your Atlas. North out of Madras then East to Ashwood is all paved. That's Gambling on Gosner drying out. Or Hwy to Prineville and hwy east to dryer climate. Wish I was there. You still had more fun than I did at work.....

If we'd both been running D606's, we'd probably have made it. Oh well...

My advice is to make it south of Hwy 20 and reverse your route somewhat. They got quite a bit of rain in John Day yesterday and its still coming down. We got very little down here (Alfalfa), and it looks a lot better to the East and Southeast. If you stay to the northern routes, you will have a cold, wet time.

Do what OMB says and detour around the slop - lots of ways to do it.

Make your way over Grizzly to Prineville, head up the river and past the dam to Bear Creek, rd27 to 20, lots of ways to go south to Xmas Valley, Fandango, Hogback to Plush, Hart Mtn freeze out, etc.

Keep yer powder dry!

Whatever you do, don't take Gosner. It could get worse than Ashwood road and harder to extricate yourself.
