Non-stop rain out east. Drying out with a hot breakfast in Prairie City considering our next move. V-Duck we just squeaked through ahead of the rain in Ashwood.

fire re-growth report please,,

Last year when I rode thru Frenchglen it was after the huge fires over there, and everything from the highway to the top of the ridge to the west was burned off from Frenchglen for the next 15 miles, solid,,then smaller burnt out areas north of that. Trees, sagebrush, grasses, everything gone,,only rocks remaining. it has got to be a fantastic scene this spring,,probably only grasses and wildflowers, and stunted sage growth, killing off the junipers ain't a bad thing,I'd love to see pics.

If you look at google maps and put the little man on the highway somewhere north of F'glen you'll see pre-fire photographs, turn and look up the ridge,,,ALL OF THAT WAS GONE!
Current views have to be so different!

I'd roll out the corporate Jet Ranger, and have TBlume fly us over there for a look-see, and some quick pics,, but alas,,it's on loan to undisclosed dignitaries, in an undisclosed location, flying undiscloseted missions,,(at least they told me they were some kind of mercy and missionaries, or something about a seminary,,mercy seminary mission,,a caring group,,something like that!),

,with all their black on black uniforms they were wearing, and all the heavy black bags full of what I assumed to be religious objects of some sort,( no doubt necessary for their mercymissionary work.)
I figured they were pretty dedicated types,,they all seemed so nice, though none of them spoke much at all, and when they did it was like some kind of mumbled religerous code talk,,all clean shaven and closely cropped,,once they pulled on those black balaclavas I guessed it must be cold where they were headed, so I gave each one a book of matches with the corporate logo on the "close cover before striking" side.
They have been away for a long time,,and none of them has called me to report in on the return of the chopper, kinda funny they wanted to paint it flat black before they borrowed it,,but,WTF?, okay!,,so I guess I just have to wait to hear back,,,t'stoo bad too, cuz I could really use it about now to hover over the shop, and fan all the crap off the parking lot,,think large size leaf blower,,that was why I bought it originally anyway. I so hate sweeping,,

So,,anyway,,you guys are over there now,,and you could take some pics of the burn area and post 'em up, and save me a lot of bother with the corporate airfleet! thanks,,,
TBlume didn't wanna fly a frikken heliocropter this weekend anyway,,

Sorry Peterman, didn't make it to Frenchglen.

Make it home around 8, after a long 456 mile day. Lots of pictures I'll put up in a few days. Thanks to Gary and Doug for toughing it out with me in some challenging weather. Was a lot of fun. Eastern Oregon is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L.

Nice shots Scott. Bummer about the rain overnight for a wet camp to pack up...that is a cool tent you have...with a garage if you want, nice!
Talk soon.

If it wasn't for Scott and his Redverz tent, night one and three would have been real crappy. That tent was the right tool for that job for sure. Thanks Scott
PS. I will have one ordered in a day or two. I just have to check and see what else is out there of the same style.
