Road conditions

I was looking around on line today and I found a number for the Owyhee County Idaho roads department. They have a shop 6 miles out of Jordan Valley. I'll try calling tomorrow and see if I can get the latest on the road to Silver City. Sure hope it's open.

silver city

I am sure it is open.. Definitely by the time you guys blow through here. I haven't been up there yet, but if you go to Boise ride this weekend thread and ask you will get loads of info. I mean dude there are tons of ADV riders on this side of Idaho. I can look out my window and see War Eagle mtn. above Silver City and there is not much snow on it. We are in a drought this year. Hopefully when you all come over it will be raining.. If any emergencies come up while you are out here give me a call. I might even ride out to Leslie and say howdie if I get off work early.

Well I just talked to the road maintenance shop in the area and he agrees with you if it is not already open it will be by ride time. Thanks

Hey, that's only 2 weeks...not bad. Really looking forward to some wide open vistas.

V-Duck, you still looking at around 230ish miles that first day? With a 10am start I may just ride down on Thursday morning, vs. spending the night down there someplace.

Yep, no new changes to the itinerary at this point. However...

Is there any interest from those actually riding along (not the peanut gallery following this thread) in visiting the gold dredge in Sumpter? If so, we may make the first day a bit longer to fit that in on the second. We'll have to talk more about whether we can still fit Silver City into a four day tour...

All of that said, let it be known now that, although I like to think things through and plan carefully, I am very open to the spontaneous "lets go check this out!"

I've been wanting to check out that Gold Dredge at some point. Was toying with doing it via the Hells Canyon Rally this year. Would be fine adding it to your trip if y'all want to. However, due to work, I can't stretch beyond the 4 days myself.

Despite the lovely weather lately, count on it being cold at night. EVERBODY complained about the cold night last year at Hart Mountain. So this year I decided we would just take one tent. That way we can all cuddle together and stay toasty warm. What happens at Man Camp stays at Man Camp. You are hereby forewarned.

I woulda bitched more, but the frostbite on my lips made talking too painful...

Damn good place to put some hot springs, though!
