Here are the instructions. READ ME

Here is the file. DOWNLOAD ME

Just download the file and put it where it says.

Its called LBL North, I made it public. See what you think. I am going to do the south also.
Yep, looks really good! I haven't messed with overlays much, I'll have to see how I can view it on the application.

The app is really cool, but if you want to get a feeling for how it works, download OpenStreetMaps. DSM is based on OSM, but it has a bunch of cool tie-ins back to the site that work really well.

I'm in

I'll be there Saturday and possibly Sunday. Not camping though. I'll probably just commute from Paris.

Never know though. We have some friends that usually have a camper at Piney. maybe they'll let me make use of it for a day or two.

Looking forward to it.

I'm thinking I should ride the V-Strom myself. I have a pretty good idea about where the big bikes should steer clear of. Since Treemuncher is out, we need a big bike guide anyway. Plus, TN Steve can run the DRZ, won't have to wash the Road Glide more than once this year.

LBL Custom Map Overlays

For those of you with a GPS capable of displaying Custom Maps. Here are all 10 Segments of the Land Between the Lakes. Just unzip the file and move 1-10.kmz files to the Custom Maps folder on your Garmin. Then enable Custom Maps under maps in settings. You can also view these in Google Earth, just download, unzip and import into Google Earth. They are in 10 sections so that your GPS will handle them at an zoom level. They will appear as one big map on your GPS. Enjoy!

I have uploaded a full map to Dual Sport Maps If you want to check it out before downloading. Go there and zoom in on LBL. To the right of the map you will see overlays available. Pull down and select.

I was planing to ride Turkey Bay tomarrow on the KTM & my daughter on her KLX but, the Little Monster has a fork seal that's gushing (probably from my fat a$$ stomping around at Loretta Lynns on her) oil.

Therefore....... I'm open to a KLR ride through LBL or the bowels of hell. I don't know the area or have a GPS so I gotta follow someone who does. If anyone is thinking about a Dual Sport assault for tomarrow, now is the time to plan our attack.

The latest from Energy Lake

I spoke with the folks at Energy Lake again today. Loop B is blocked out for us....as of right now.

Here is the catch, to hold that reservation, it needs to be paid for in advance.

Non-electric sites @ $12 x 2 nights x 10 sites = $240
Electric Sites @ $22 x 2 nights x 2 sites = $88
Reservation Fee – as a group = $15 total
Reservation Fee – if reserved individually - $10 EACH SITE !

Total Cost as a group - $343
Total Cost to reserve a non electric site, $34 each site

I really think Energy Lake is the optimum location to take advantage of what LBL has to offer. But I am not an accountant. I can front the $343 to reserve the whole loop, but I really need to be comfortable knowing I’ll get reimbursed. Basically, I need assurance we can fill the loop.

They are holding it for us until they open for the regular camping season on March 1st. Then, they are gonna want some money.

So here is a summary:

a – Reserve as a group @ $343, reimburse Troy

b – Reserve individually, $34 each site, spend extra $105 as a group, Troy does no accounting

c – Ride in, everybody stay wherever, find a spot to hang out

d – A better idea not yet discussed

We have a week to talk about it so let’s hear your best ideas. I really did not want to turn this into anything but a ride, but it looks like it might be a necessary evil to step up and make it an “Event”. Obviously, the more people we have, the less each of us will spend. Backcountry camping is always an option, but on the third day without a shower, NOBODY will want to ride behind me!

Let’s hear it, guys, whacha thinking?

Troy
