Catalina Highway
Rented an R1200 RT from Arizona Motorcycle Rentals in Tucson. The rental was smooth, the bike nice. Took the Catalina highway up to Mt Lemmon for lunch at the Iron Gate up at the Mt Lemmon ski base.
You really can't beat the road and the views on this route. It's about 35 miles each way, with a couple must do pull outs as you get higher. This was a January ride, 70 down in the valley and 50 at the top, partly sunny and dry with the exception of some snow melt. Did the trip with lunch in about 2 1/2 hours, then rode the bike down to Tombstone to see the Wyatt Earp thing, corny but cool. Had the bike back by six, no worries. Definitely a nice day trip to blow off a little steam. |
