Yes, I think Igor has something to do with ktm guys..... :)

my dealer likes me because I bought 9 bikes in the last 4 years (not all for me)...
I ordered the skidplate with the bike on Gen. 8th and I received it this week....
Regarding the Akra, I ordered it in Gen. and it is not arrived jet. the one mounted is from the dealer's test drive bike that ktm pushes to have with as many powerparts as possible. In this case the 9 bikes helped

@Igor (ciao Dab68 from QDE): let me ask you something; my KTM dealer told me that for the aluminum engine guard (paracoppa in alluminio) I have to wait 1 month. I just saw your picture above and you already have mounted on it.
A lot of the accessories are not available for around a month - even working for the dealer does not help and I am waiting for the engine guard, heated grips, luggage ...........

I,ve got my R this week with Akra, and heating grips.
I'm waiting for the skid plate, add. lights and gps holder. My dealer told me the missing parts should be come this month.
The bike is running very good and the Akra sounds better every day.
I wish you all a lot of fun with your new bikes like i have.

Greetings from Northern Germany

Some questions for new owners...

...especially those who were 9x0 owners...
Has ktm really addressed a lot of the issues? I would like to hear direct comparisons of seat comfort, offroad worthiness (slow going balance and FI tractability while standing), windshield effectiveness, headlight, fuel range and/or mileage. Everything I have read in magazine tests is positive, but who knows what is educated opinion and what hws been paid for...
Also, does anyone know if they have addressed water pump and fuel pump issues...?

GPS mounting

Hi all

Just got my KTM GPS mount in (part no. 60312992044) and got it mounted this morning. I got a Garmin Zumo 350 to go along with it. It's my first motorcycle navigation system but I know Garmin from the Nuvi car systems and I'm happy with them.

First impressions: it took the dealer almost 3 hours to remove lots of plastic parts (tank cover etc.) and route the power cable invisibly to the battery. It does look nice though and I keep my 12 volt plug free for other things (no idea what things really).
There can be the occasional slight wobble to the GPS device when riding, but this is due to the road surface and not to engine vibration.
The device can be attached and detached very quickly. The position is very good, high up inside the windshield so it's in your line of vision.

Collected my R this morning. Have done k 's miles on 950 & 990 adv's since owning them from 2004. My notes, old vs new:

Looks: R wins hands down
Road handling: R much more compliant, feels lighter, more planted, quicker turn in. No contest.
Engine: R has more grunt and more top end. Loads of torque- changing gear far less than the 990! Much smoother!
Gearbox: very very slick on R! No contest !
Brakes: very effective, with little fork dive...
Comfort: hard to tell at the moment, as only done 50 miles! But seat much better than 990. Tank is wider, which is neither better nor worse. Screen is very good surprisingly! Very similar feeling to sitting on the 990, with the high riding position. Even my shadow looked the same as the old bike did, riding down the dual carriageway!

Basically a much better version of the old bike.... Which is what I'd hoped and expected!!

I've not had a chance to play with the maps, neither am I that interested in them. It rides well in sport, so I'll leave it in that. Might use rain mode when it rains, but that's it really...

The touratech luggage is far nicer than the old style! The top box and panniers look fantastic, and all now have a hinge system!

Very pleased with it! Exactly what I've been waiting to trade my 990 for!!
