The 19" front, new windshield etc must make it a great streetbike. I am sure riding my 05 and one of these back to back would make me want one. Told my wife I wouldnt do that and would feel bad turning my back on my Orange beast, flaws and all. I just need to stay away......

I'd buy the bike just so I could get one of those keychains...

Hi -

I got mine a week ago and took a few pictures.

I'm still waiting for a couple of things to be delivered (skied plate, chain lube system, additional lights, roadbook holder).

"'The bike is bloody good and please stop this talk saying the that 990 was better because it isn't'"

I think that it's a matter of opinion. I don't know as we don't have any over here yet, but that's the beauty of humanity, opinions.

My 950 is taller and feels more like a MX bike then the 1190. Is it better? Probably not, do i enjoy the 950 more? Hell yes! Is the 1190 worth the cost to upgrade? Fuck no! My next boat will be a 990(r) with a suspension travel upgrade.

Depends what you want from a bike. But as an "Adventure" bike the new one does nothing better than a 990, and costs a shit heap more money.

If you NEED the extra power, electronics etc. to dumb it back down, then great, buy it and enjoy it, but dont say it's a "better" "Adventure" bike becuase that's a big claim to make for a bike new to the market, that's offering nothing more than a bit more power and a shiny paint job.

All just my opinion, I'm sure a few will be along shortly to explain the error ofy ways:

950 / 990 owners, a sensitive lot, some anyways...

In the mega power, mega sophisticated, mega expensive adventure segment,
this dual offering from KTM is mega exciting, at least for a bystander like myself.

Bravo and well done KTM !

Still interested to hear of high speed stability capabilities, from owners riding in all conditions...

990 standard cant the same performance of 1190. On 1190 the bike have a off road mode if you select it it cuts the power to 100hp on the road you can still select the sport mode 150 hp I think the biggest different in between the two bikes are the usability 990 is a good bike but it isn't worth 13.000 that's the only differences. Also with some one never experience any power and always ride alone 990 is perfect two up 1190 is all a lot better bike even the feeling is a lot good then 990 .1190 is more for all use rather then just A roads and off road. Every single way it's better guys stop saying it doesn't worth the money I did test ride the 990 as well it felt like a tractor compering the 1190 in city 990 is difficult to handle motorway 990 doesn't have the torque for over takes two ups, and 990 got tube tires which is a big negative for riding in Europe .

We quite like tractors down here in the west country where I live.

Tubed tyres are not always bad, some would say good, when on an Adventure and a repair of a bad puncture is needed. Gluing a plug in the outside of a tyre is not a great repair is it.

And back to your original line ''every single way it's better'', errrr,,,, no.

Difficult to handle in the city? The thing is bloody easy to handle. And i don't ride 2 up and don't need the 150hp for overtakes. To ME the bike ain't worth the upgrade or the money. If it is for you then go ahead, i'm not gonna discuss your choice or needs. Those are up to you. IF i upgrade it's gonna be a used 990(r) with extra suspension travel, because i like the lc8 engine and the way the bike does it's job. It's good enough for me.

I'm not looking in this topic to vent how everyone is mad for paying the money for the 1190, good for them if they like the bike, buy what makes you happy. I'm here to see how ppl equip their pride and speak their mind on how they enjoy it. Because i like to read about their experiences. Even if my mindset does not lean towards their choice. (and yes i had a testdrive)
