Beautiful!! Looks like you threw the entire Power Parts Catalogue at it.

Thanks for all the detailed photos!

If it is for you then go ahead, i'm not gonna discuss your choice or needs. Those are up to you. IF i upgrade it's gonna be a used 990(r) with extra suspension travel, because i like the lc8 engine and the way the bike does it's job. It's good enough for me.

I'm not looking in this topic to vent how everyone is mad for paying the money for the 1190, good for them if they like the bike, buy what makes you happy. I'm here to see how ppl equip their pride and speak their mind on how they enjoy it. Because i like to read about their experiences. Even if my mindset does not lean towards their choice. (and yes i had a testdrive)
the 990 is the ugliest bike made, the 1190r is the best looking I have seen so far.

Yeah, right...

While I really like the 1190 R looks, 990 and 1190 are so different that choosing the best looking one depends a lot on what kind of bike you like more, rally looks vs adventure. If you don't like Dakar style bikes I understand the 990 looks is not for you.
But I like the 990 looks, and last week when I walked into the shop to see the 1190 T in grey I said "meh..."

neither is really very good lucking but thats part of the charm, the 950 motor however is a pretty rough beast so anything is an improvement, bonus if the 1190 has huge midrange that doesnt need to be wound out to go fast

Is it?

I've 30+ years history in bikes, I service the 950 myself, everything from valves to carb balance, and she runs as sweet as ANY bike I've ever had, and I've had a few.

I really cannot believe some of the utter crap some of you guys are peddling on here at the moment.

I'm constantly surprised how many compliments I get on my bike... ranging from various biker types, to general onlookers... old and young.

I bought the bike to satisfy my desires for an Africa Twin, and to replace my Transalp. My 950 Adv was not only superior in performance, but happened to be more stylish.

Each version of KTM Adventure will undoubtedly have it's detractors. The difficulty of motorcycle design is always finding the perfect balance between form and function.

Whatever. I purposely bought a 2013 990 because I want the last 990 ever produced. The 1190 doesn't ring my bell. It's impressive technically, but just doesn't do it for me. I love the look of the Dakar bikes. The 1190 is just a clone of whatever is out there, no real identity like the 990. BTIJMHO.
