1190 adv, MISSING center stand bolt and no threads

received the ktm skid plate today
went to install and step 1 is to remove the bolts on both sides of the bike just in front of the foot pegs. on the right side of bike there was NO bolt in bike so figured that saved me some time. when i went to install the new bolt i realized the hole does not even have threads in it. pic here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gm7xj4efsx...201%20copy.jpg

thoughts? anyone else check this location?

thanks

There is no bolt there, this has been covered in other threads. It just needs to be drilled and tapped.

It is normal, weird but normal.

You can safely tap it without drilling....easy job to tap.

aRe you positive about that? the instructions say predrill an 8.5mm hole. there is already a hole in the case but i assume the 8.5mm opens it up a bit more. going to attempt this today so any help would be appreciated

Do what the instructions say. Why take a chance of ruining you case.

just a heads up to anyone wanting to do this mod.

its VERY VERY easy.

i predrilled the hole which barely did anything. then i slowly used the tap. retracted, cleaned torn off metal, and went at it again. did this about 4x and it got far enough in to hold the bolt. the instructions say go in 30mm but the bolt only sticks out of the bracket about 15 or so mm.

anyway, very happy to have a nice quality skid plate on my ride.

8.5mm drill is hard to find, equivalent in Std is a "R" bit, about 5 thousands bigger.
Drilling the hole will do very little, just take your time...2 turns in & back it out...keep the hole clean & u can use some oil to help lubricate. If you go too deep you'll hit the threads from the othersides mounting hole. KTM talks about 35mm deep.
You not going to put a hole in your engine cases...why KTM never did this ceases to amaze me....
