New 990 won't start

Well I bought a new 990, drove it into the back of my truck. Off loaded it, there was a F1 light on. Parked it 10 ft away. Came the next day and nothing. Turn the key, guage cluster does not cycle, fuel pump does not cycle. Battery is fully charged. Fuses are all OK and tight. Dealer does not have a mechanic until next week. Really wanted to ride this weekend. Any advice?

Double check battery connections, think they are off when delivered and if poorly tightened might cause that, don't have any better suggestion.

Checked big fuse down by starter relay?

All of the fuses?

A couple of ideas. First - disconnect the battery cables and read the battery voltage, then reconnect and see what the voltage reads.
Second - did you check the two fuses by the starter relay? They are on the right side of the engine (facing forward) down near the battery. At least one of those is a 30 amp fue if I remember. Make sure the fuse blades and holder are good and clean. Your positive cable runs directly to that relay.
Third - check all of the connections in that area and make sure they are clean and tight. That includes the negative battery cable to the engine block.
Regards,
Bill

I was just coming back to suggest the kill switch as well.
I once accidentally hit mine when pushing it away from a gas pump.
Gauges would light up, but no start.
I took all the luggage off and I was about to start digging into the wiring when I thought I'd just check the switch.
Boy was I relieved when the bike started right up.

Easy solutions are best.

Lots of other people have experienced what you're referring to and it turned out to be a bad ignition wiring harness. My bike had less than a thousand miles on it when it started happening to me. KTM replaced it under warranty. Everything you need to know including pictures and video is here:

New 990 won't start

Checked all fuses on the dash. Checked all connections, plus the big fuses down at the relay. Kill switch is on run. I will check the wiring harness. I thought maybe the immobilizer thought I was stealing it.

Did you use the orange key?

Not supposed to do that- use the black key only.

Also not trying to be a smartass but make sure it's in neutral. It won't start in gear.

Hope it's something simple

Kickstand switch. Bike won't start if it's in gear with kickstand down.

This happened to me once, first week I had my 990. I wasn't used to having a neutral light, so it never occurred to me. Felt like a R tard.

Also, when any bike of mine doesn't start, I always check the kill switch first. 9 times out of 10 its the culprit. Little bit of a funny story why I always think of it first... I was riding on some pretty aggressive single track, new bike (XRL, less than 100 miles), and I was hummin' pretty good. All of a sudden the bike bogs and about throws me over the handle bars and comes to a stop. I spent a half hour trying to figure out what the F&@# just happened. Did I blow up my new bike? Did I fry the CDI? I got frustrated and got real pissed and kicked her over. When it she the dirt I noticed the kill switch. Boy was I relieved! I laughed all the way home!
