Day 11 continued

Continuing on the Redwoods

We enter the:

Whoa !

Check this out fellas ! Riding through this Redwood forest on a dirt road was a real highlight !!

We pop out just outside of Crescent City. We could suddenly smell the salt water.

I needed a tire bad. My Buddy at home running command central for me started to call around and found me a tire.

John and Mike go get lunch and bring it back for everyone as Bruce and I go to work.

I pretty much sat back and watched Mr. ISDE change it out in record time
All done, we eat.

Day 11 continued

We "reach the beach"

Yea, your eyes are not failing you. That is a full grown bull elk browsing on the beach !

Looking left

Looking right (elk in photo)

Looking out to the Pacific

We storm the beach

I have have to express our feeling here.
"Focking fantastic" !!
Excuse my language

After a while at the beach, we walk back to the bikes and head back out. Next time we see the Pacific will be on the "Lost Coast" to the south. But we pass through, and overnight on Native American land before we get there.

Amazing contrast ... from such massive mountains and deep river canyons, then to the sea ...

Culturally, what we see here is the yearning for freedom, to live as one wishes to. That's a hallmark among those who live in the mountains and forests of those parts. They want freedom ... and that means freedom to smoke dope if they want, freedom from rules and regulations, freedom to live in an old school bus instead of a stick house ... freedom to live as they wish. Is that liberal or conservative? I dunno.

Yeah, to think living like that is even still possible in the most populous state in the nation. It's a groovy thing.

It can be gratifying to see that remnants of bygone California still exist ... if you know where to look.

Fairing on the DR

Great report glad to see you enjoyed my neck of the woods. I'm curious what fairing that is on the DR and if it would fit a DRZ400?
