The app supports two precision modes: High and Low.

The low one, uses a very simple equation called "natural inclination angle". Pirelli Diablo uses this one.
Advantages: You can put your iPhone any way, any orientation, into your pocket, bag... because all work relies on the GPS.
Disadvantages: the GPS precision affects directly to "estimated lean precision".

The High one uses a unique iPhones feature called "Attitude", which allows developers obtain the device orientation in space. Of course, inertial forces (centrifugal specially) affects negatively gyros and accelerometers.
We spent about 4 month investigating how to "isolate" centrifugal forces from the telemetry.
We did it, and now, as you can observe if you test the app twice, same road, same speed, but in different precision and compare, you have a truly unique telemetry recorder. The exact way we did it is, of course, a secret!

For high precision mode the iPhone must to be mounted face up, horizontally and parallel to your motorbike axis. So your gas tank is the best place.

GIVI has some very interesting over-tank mounting kits and bags, and "GPS City" offers a lot of different accessories too.

Moto Sport Telemetry Tracker supports both modes.

I attach a picture of my bike with the mounted over-tank bag.

Thanks for your interest.

Looks great! I only just found out about Pirelli Diablo, so I'm glad I saw this before I purchased it.

I don't have access to iTunes where I am; what kind of price are we looking at?

Only 2 bucks, friend. (1.99$) symbolic price.

We'll raise the price very soon, people generally thought that it is a bad app, because it is so cheap.

Thanks for your interest.

Question about iPhone tracking App...

For all iPhone owners:
Please, if you decide to try Moto Sport Telemetry Tracker, post some comment.

Here in Spain it is placed at third position of "Best Sport Paid Apps" rank.
The Bikers community is very excited about the invention.

Happy 2012 roads!

Thanks for the detailed response on how this works

We'd love to hear from riders who use this app... it is winter in some parts of the world... so it might be a while.

You are welcome, GB.

Bad weather conditions (snow, rain, wind), are incompatible with good driving performances.

Here in Valencia, the climate is mild all year, and only in december and january you can found a few roads with a bit a snow and some Ice.

No matter. Patiently still awaiting for users feedback to evolve the App in the direction that users demand.

Spring is coming, sweet smelling of adventure, and the US's large roads are awaiting to be kicked with the tires of our bikes.

Good times are for coming very soon.

Thanks for your suggestion about a post a comment regarding the App in the other thread, but I'm afraid that forum rules don't allows me to do that. Will don't wanna be banned for being a spamer.:

Fell free yourself to post some comment for the other forum's members.

Thanks again for your kindness.

Very proud to hear that from you!

Can't imagine what are you referring to when you say "the cage"?

You are welcome.

I certainly do appreciate it. I train teachers to use interactive Gizmos. Check out our website:
http://www.explorelearning.com/ You only get 5 minutes playing with the Gizmos unless you take the 30 day trial. (The Reflex Math games are a blast too! Supposedly for kids but a lot of us adults are hooked.)
