More zonies out and about

Sunday a few of us took advantage of the day and headed out on a 130 mile loop starting out by Lake Pleasant and having lunch in Crown King with several nice detours thrown in to keep things interesting.

This loop had a little of everything, the least of which was pavement!

Refokus in one of the many water crossings on Turkey Creek on the way up to Cleator.

An overcast, cool day with recent rains meant low dust and tacky trails

Refokus, 4-Play and Reidy take a break along the trail

One thing about rains in AZ, trails tend to change on you.

Reidy and I had been on this trail in the summer, and there was no sign of any bad washouts. This time though, Reidy was leading and found a big one the hard way. It was about 8ft across and 4ft deep. He was going too fast to stop but not fast enough to clear it, so as the front dropped in he bailed and landed on the other side!

Amazing, especially that he didn’t get hurt. If there would have only been a little bump on the leading edge, he probably could have jumped it.

Another view. We were travelling left to right on this photo. Bike landed in the ditch, rider cleared it and rolled in the dirt on the right side!

The rest of us took the easier way across by going up a few feet and crossing. Here’s 4-Play making his way through the brush

We must have made more than a dozen water crossings today. Most not too deep, but a couple were deep enough to get your attention. Here is Refokus on one of the shallow ones.

I didn’t tell Refokus we were racing to the next big mud puddle, I won. Here he is thanking me for the experience! (Sorry Brad.)

A fun day was had by all. Really enjoyed the loop Drew, thanks for laying it out.

Thanks for posting this up Steve, it was a good day. I had mud in my ears from the wave you sent my way. Great ride, thanks for leading the way Drew.

Thumb Tempting the rest of us...

That's it.
I'm officially envious. Looked like a heck of a great day to be out with friends riding in the dirt even if there was a little
Great looking day trip man. Ride safe..

Looked like a blast. That creek can be crazy deep when it rains up in the bradshaws.

Great RR AZRedline!

Awesome pic of Refokus after his mud bath

I'm glad Reidy didn't win the trophy with that off.

I tell ya, I was several seconds back, and as I came up on 4Play (still on his bike) and Reidy in the trench waving his arms, I thought "What did he find that he's off the bike looking at?"

I could only see Drew from the shoulders up, so it slowly sunk in that he was in a hole! Could have easily been something more serious if not for some fancy bailin' on Reidy's part!
