London to Cape Town advice

Hello. At the end of this year me and a mate are doing a charity ride from London to Cape Town. We have most of our S### sorted like carnet, insurance, shipping etc. My question is about insurance card in Africa - e.g. Brown card, yellow card, pink card. I assume these are able to be purchased once I enter each specific zone. Am I wrong? is there a way to buy these insurance cards in advance?

Also have heard a vicious rumor that if you travel from north to south you will not be able to get a visa for Angola. This sounds strange and have not seen any evidence to back it up. Anyone else heard of this?

i live in Entebbe, uganda. drop by and see us. here, kenya, tanzania, rwanda, barundi use COMESA yellow card. should be able to get at boarder. would probably be cheaper if you could get ahead of time.
