F8GS aftermarket headers......

So you fine folks that have upgraded your headers..... Where have you gotten them. And are you happy. I will buy myself a set in the next 2-3 weeks, and travel to Denver, with performance in mind. The trip will be documented in a thread here. It will include some airbox testing..... DJ pc-5 with Auto tune.....headers.......video's and pictures. In house at Sisneros Speed Works....... boy oh boy oh boy... This'gonna be fun.

I put Remus headers on mine and like the hp boost and sound. However they are not compatible with most crash bars and skid plates. PKB

I've got Quat-D headers: they are especially suitable for low-end and midrange torque increasing.
Very-very efficient because of joint close to motor head, but if you don't provide with others (silencer i.e.) you're going to loose 10 km/h on top speed

Pls look here in a temporary fitting with plastic skidplate:

Mine wasn't OK with Alu OEM skidplate (modification required), but seems they changed design.
One of our friends down here already faced this detail, talking with me... let's dig into the room.
You can buy directly from the factory (ask for price) or from Twalcom.

Others (Remus, Arrows...), with the joint as per original, are more for all-around the torque curve, but I do suggest these 'cause our engine is physiologically weak just on the average range of utilization: expensive, but good medicine, QD's.

+1 Remus Headers and canister. My only Modification is that I had the headers porcelain coated black to match the triple black theme.

So the Twalcom headers looks like they are less intrusive, meaning they dont obstruct as much space as the remus. It looks like the sit flatter. Did you fit it with silencer as well...... if yes, no top end loss....???
Thanks

If you don't mind me asking, how much does porcelain coating cost generally?

I had some pipes on another bike ceramic coated inside/outside and it was about $150.... But that can vary from region to region

I have Remus headers. they are really nice and easy to install. They will not fit with any bash plate (that i know of) i dont think any aftermarket headers will....

Black Dog Cycle Works has a remus compatable bash plate.

@ebrabaek: pls see here (posts 8,9,12 & 21) http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...ghlight=quat-d

I do confirm there's no top end loss with a more open silencer, but actually with this configuration you'll lose some low end snap.
Careful: not torque, but only in "throttle reply", that's going to be smoother.
...all this with Quat-D silencer, that's equipped with a unic dB killer based onto a special fluid dynamics (pls see their site): very open indeed, therefore with a lower back pressure (affecting right low end snap).

The best all-around silencer is Akrapovic, anyway.

Within the solutions to re-gain top-end performance, there's the remapping itself.
I do suggest to try with OEM silencer, first: if you like that famous snap, couldn't be necessay to change silencer.
Do you like overkill? go for Akra. ...anyhow, pls consider the psychological impact on a 1.2 boxer to become humiliated by a E8GS with OEM muffler...

PS - info@qdexhaust.it ask Mr.De Liso (don't look the graph on the site: they're of another bike... )

Gaspare screwed with this post 01-23-2013 at 01:40 AM Reason: PS
