Personally, I'm a little underwhelmed. No young dynamic up-coming players like Christian Wade or Joe Launchbury. Several players unproven or unconvincing at this level since returning from injury like Croft, Gray and Lydiate (although I'd have taken the risk with Lydiate) and some strange selections with Murray over Laidlaw or Care, Hartley over Best, Stevens over Grant and Farrell over Wilkinson (or over anyone else who owns a pair of boots and can break into a trot). There's only two outside halves and one inside centre leaving us desperately weak in midfield. For me, I'd have found room for Wade and Launchbury, chosen Hines over Gray or Evans and taken either James Hook, Billy Twelvetrees or Ollie Barclay as cover at 10/12.
Never mind; bring it on!

They couldn't afford the bar bill or the suntan bill.

Whilst 10/12 is an area of weakness, I think there were a few ahead of Gav in Gat's thinking like Hook, Laidlaw and Twelvetrees. I like Henson and find it easier to forgive him his "eccentricities" compared to the likes of Tuilagi but I suspect he's one of those guys, like Tom Varndell, who blotted their copy-book with the "management" early on in their career and will never find a way back no matter how hard they try or how well they play.

Im finding it hard to get excited about international rugby since the rule changes have reduced the number of players at the breakdown.
Nothing worse than seeing backs running into 120kg forwards in the backline for 80 minutes. |

Two USA nationals Zee Ngwenya and Samu Manoa are in the Barbarian side face off against the BI Lions in Hong Kong. Zee has greatly improved his all around game and many consider Samu to be one of the best forwards playing in England. Just have to figure out how to see it. Tehy are bothe playing for the Eagles the following week against a down manned Irish side that I think is in for some real trouble.

Manoa's had a great season playing for Saints. I saw him get the "man of the match" accolade in a game earlier in the season; very impressive.
