It's pretty much a done deal that Alex Smith is going to the Chiefs, if NFL.com is to be believed. I saw this coming three weeks ago. I had a hunch Andy Reid might take a shot at acquiring him. (by the way, this is one of the few times... okay, just about the only time one of my hunches has been right.)

Hopefully Smith can get up to speed with Andy Reid's offense. Just when the kid was finding his groove with a single offensive coordinator over multiple years, he gets benched for having a concussion. That's harsh.

Next year, I hope the Chiefs whoop up on the 49ers.

I thought the Packers had $18 - $19 million in cap space to play with. Am I looking at outdated data?

I saw another number (NFL.com, I think) that says the Packers have $5.8 million to spend under the cap. But I've also seen some different numbers, so I don't know if I'm looking at old posts or just inaccurate info.

while winning a super bowl is great
suddenly everyone thinks they are worth more

I wasn't happy that the Ravens won, but I like Joe Flacco as a quarterback. Elite? Maybe. Close. But I hope his agent doesn't get in the way of a deal getting done.

The packers gotta resign Rodgers, Matthews and raji in the next couple years, Rodgers is looking like 18-20 mill a year just himself.

There will be a lot of double checking but I think the discount part will be left at home. He has shown he is one of the elite guys but man that's like 1/5 of the teams salary.

I think new coach Andy Reid and new QB Alex Smith get the Chiefs to 8 wins this season. Maybe that's optimistic, but they have a lot of talent on both offense and defense.

I think they beat the Raiders twice and win at home against the Chargers, then they only have to win 5 games of 12 to get to .500. And if they have an easy schedule and win 6 or 7, then might win 10 games. Very optimistic... yes. But doable.

A KC 2nd round pick this year and a 2nd or 3rd round pick in 2014 seems like a cheap price for Smith.

I'm not all that thrilled about it but I don't know if or what other teams were offering.

It seems the Niners are stacking picks...they don't need them with such a young team...so they must be intending to use them for a few key players to get them to the top of the hill.

Kansas City Chiefs -- Home: Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants Away: Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins

The away schedule is better then the home. I'm seeing maybe a 7-9 season and thats being generous. You never know though.
