DR 350 dualsport wiring
Got a '90 DR 350s. Has a Tusk (like) dualsport wiring kit on it with an add on battery pack. Im in the process of cleaning up the previous owners wiring (wire nuts & chit). My question is, does anybody know how this system is supposed to be wired properly? Im looking at a 9 pin harness coming off the multiswitch (headlight on-off-HI, turn & horn) & wondered if anybody knows what color runs which switch & common ground & power to it? Im working with that, & a factory 2 wire plug which I believe ran the headlight off the stator (powers up when running-dead when off). How does the battery pack wire in? Stator feed to positive to charge it? Im lost here.

Go to Greg Benders this old tractor web site. Poke around and you will find some manuals with wiring charts. Wiring is not something you can explain in words. Good luck.

I figured out the handlebar switch 9 wire connector. As follows.
yellow......12v feed to headlight switch white........headlight low beam dark blue..headlight high beam (also lights high beam indicator) gray.........12v feed to turn signal switch orange......left turn signal light blue...right turn signal dark green...common ground light green...12v to horn switch black..........12v out from horn switch I am not completely sure if this color code follows all models of motorcycles or not. The switch I verified is similar & very possibly a Tusk Motorsports switch supplied in their dualsport wiring kit. |

Also figured out a standard 4-5 pole switched relay diagram.
pole #30....constant 12v pole #86....switched 12v feed pole #85....ground pole #87....to accessory to be powered (light-horn-fan-etc) pole # 87a...typically not used (5th pole) This is a standard wiring diagram for a switched relay. |
