Good beach campgrounds near San Felipe?
My son wants to camp at SF for his spring break. Truck, trailer, tents bike sort of thing. Any of those many campgrounds any better than the rest?
Cleaner, better showers, more popular with the younger crowd, close to town, that sort of thing. DD

Yes, I thought of Pete's camp too but the spots on the beach are pretty small and with all of those permanent residents the vibe is different.

The north end of pete's is a mellower crowd and more big RVs.

Scroll down the link and you will find a town map. The camps are marked as "Trailer" Parks.
http://sanfelipe.com.mx/getting-here/maps/ Camps exist on the bluffs above the beach North of town, centered around Pete's and El Dorado, and more exist adjacent to Hotels that wrap around the bay to the South. These sites require a ten to thirty minute drive into town. More quiet primitive (self-sufficient) camping is found South of town from Laguna Percibu and further away from SF. |

They fill up fast as space is limiited.
You can walk to town from Playa Bonita or Rubens in the bay by the lighthouse. They have palapas and you camp above them on stilts. Rubens had a good vibe and a decent bar and restaurant last year. I don't know if they accept trailers. A shorter walk is San Felipe Trailer Park or Playa de Laura, but they fill up quickly as spaces are taken up by older snowbirds. All the others you will have to drive/ride to town. Drinking and driving/riding is a crime and dangerous, plus you HAVE to wear a helmet on a quad or motorcycle on the street. Last Spring break a lot of the younger action was to the south end of town by San Felipe Trailer Park, that bar was rocking. Things and ownership changes regular, so who knows what this year will be like? There are beach camping places along the road north and south of town, but it's a way out, as much as 12 miles or even more. The facilities are rudementary, some have cool Palapa bars. Things change year by year, what was there isn't there. The road in general is about 2 miles from the beach so be prepared to drive over a sandy road to the camps. Some roads are better than others. Some have a 'fantastic' gate and then nothing else when you get down.
