Weekday ride [Sydney-west]

Looking at doing a ride either Tuesday 12th Feb. or Thursday 14th Feb.

Either a dirt/tar mix that suits DR/KLR/Dakar type bikes- I will take my KLE.

Or a more tar/dirt mix, in which case I would take my Wee-Strom.

Direction and duration is open to suggestion.
Howes Valley-Putty.
Oberon/Tarana/Crookwell.
Belanglo.

Meet point options depend on direction chosen, meet time would be around 0830 at wherever is chosen.

This ride will be posted on other forums as well, so expect strangers.

The ride will be at a steady pace and suitable for novice riders and routes will vary depending on attendees.

My week is pretty open next week, may have a meeting Tuesday but could also be free and at this stage Thursday is wide wide open, which means the bank account will be suffering but the riding days are open.

I'd like to have a look around Belanglo.

cheers
Matty...

Hi Matty,

I have another rider on a Wee who would only handle easy dirt [recovering from shoulder injury] so Belanglo would be an option for him I think.

He is not definite at this stage but has his weekdays free for the most part.

Yep sure,

Howes would not be a great place for some recovering from injury.
I'm guessing Belanglo would be a pretty easy day out.
Let's see what happens for the week.

cheers

Thursday seems to be gaining ground over Tuesday.

I will float that preference over on the other two forums to see if we can coax any more along.

Ride day is Thursday 14th.

I'm leaving from near Windsor, my preferred route to Penrith is out through Agness Banks.

Anyone who wants to meet near Windsor PM me and we will sort out a meet point around there.

Penrith area as a second meet point, location to be advised [at least one more rider meeting us there].

Picton for the Latte [cappuccino for me though] where we will be joined by yet another rider.

On to Belanglo via Thirlemere, Hill Top, Mittagong and Moss Vale [open to suggestions from anyone with "local knowledge"].

Individuals can return via whatever route they need to fit with their schedules/direction to home.

I will be returning via much the same route I take down [perhaps with minor alterations].

This will be a fairly easy ride as two riders are recovering from injuries.

Ride is suitable for a range of bikes and rider skills, there will be a couple of Stroms along [although I will take my KLE if I can't get my Wee sorted before Wednesday night].

Route map here.

So how many have you got going Ock? I may be in for this.
I have been to Belanglo once a few weeks back. The tracks you see on google maps are only a quarter of what is there.
I have topo maps on my GPS and have been studying a good route to load on to it.
If you want i can mark out a track to follow on my GPS. The best trails are actually around the state forest not in it.
How easy/hard of a trail is too hard to go down for you guys, not that there is anything extreme there.
We can always just turn around.

Route slightly modified on advice from a local down that way.
http://goo.gl/maps/fuQvS

Picton for coffee will be either 09.30 or 10.00 depending on responses [school zones to contend with as well].

I will confirm that by Wednesday evening.

Anyone wanting to meet somewhere in between Windsor and Picton let me know so we can get the timing right.

We may have lunch en-route to Belanglo, then wander the tracks until we get bored or the need to head home becomes a priority.

Glen, roughly five or six at this stage [one had to pull out so far].

GPS routes loaded may be handy, or we can simply just get lost and then hope for the best

ckj, GD, there is such a thing as "chucking a sickie"

Anyone wanting to meet between Windsor and Picton PM me and I will give you my mobile number as well as coordinating meet times along the way. [Glen, I already have yours, just let me know where and when suits you if you can make it].

Hope nobody's planning on bringing a shovel.

I'm in Steve sounds good.
We wont get lost, least I wont if the GPS is working properly.
I will have to be back in Willoughby by 5pm or so.
I will split off and be leaving Belanglo about 3:15pm.
Will meet up at Picton at whatever time you decide on.
cheers.
