Thought I'd start a thread here for my new (to me) 2004 DL650 V-Strom.

Picked it up Friday, rode 200 miles over the weekend,

Stay tuned...

Windstrom

So far I'm happy with the Windstrom shield. I put it in the lowest position and get little to no buffeting. There is however a lot of wind noise... nothing ear plugs won't fix.

First Impressions

The Wee is like no other bike I've owned... and I've own quite a few.
This is my first V twin... not counting a 1965 HD Sporster XLCH back in the day.
Fuel injection is the smoothest I've experienced.
Doesn't have the shear HP of my 1200 Bandit, but holds her own in a street fight with any SUV on the road.

Tank Removal

Decided to check the air cleaner. First time to take a tank off of a V-Strom. Not too hard, just gota work around the front panes. Liked the fuel quick disconnect feature. Air cleaner need replacing... non of the dealers in the area had a filter in stock. After blowing out the air filter as best I could put the tank back on. Will have the go through the drill again when I get a new air cleaner in hand. This time I'll install a Stebel airhorn and SAE power outlet for my heated vest and battery tender.

That's why you order two and have a spare on hand.

Take a look at a Madstad Adjustable Windshield Mount. Only takes about 15 minutes and does wonders. I've got the stock windshield. http://www.madstad.com/s.nl/sc.7/category.750/.f Watch the video.

Love my WeeStrom. Best bike I've ever owned for the $$$$ and I've owned plenty.
