Five Ural Rigs on the 2013 Elephant Ride

This was my fourth attempt to reach the furthest point possible on Guanella Pass Road from its southern endpoint: Grant, CO. What's the big deal? You have to negotiate snow-covered roads and uphill runs to get there. This year's very mild winter aided us and all five rigs made it to the gate up on top.

Well Pete,

At least in my case: the only heated gear I gad on was the heated grips on my rig. It wasn't really that cold on the mountain, perhaps a low in the high teens? I just had thermal underwear, t-shirt, fleece jacket, wind proof liner, center riding jacket. Oh, and the jeans I had on had thinsulate liner, was warm if a bit on the stiff side in terms of movement....the riding pants are vented as well.

When it gets below zero, then it's time the the heated vest. :)
