Camp pillow help needed....

Another endorsement for the Big Agnes memory foam inflatable pillow. Big thumbs up for this product. I have broad shoulders and carry two when space isn't at a premium.

My Agnes bag has an integrated pocket for both the pad and pillow so nothing shifts in the bag overnight. I really like the ideas they've brought to market and their gear has been pretty bombproof for me. Fairly reasonably priced as well.

I'm not sure which size you got (the Thermarest one comes in 3 sizes), but I looked at what REI had to offer in the store and found that the small Thermarest felt the best, if you like a firmer pillow that is. The larger ones were more loosely filled, so they'd compress more, kind of like a down pillow. It was convenient that the small one felt the best because it was the cheapest, fits perfectly inside a mummy bag, and compresses down to a little larger than a Nalgene bottle. I used to do the clothes in a stuff sack method too, but having a real pillow is a creature comfort I've now come to embrace. This little pillow has been the biggest leap forward for my camping experience since first laying on a Thermarest pad years ago.

I use a travel pillow I found at KMart (you can also get a matching pillowcase). It is firm enough, cheap, and squishes up tiny in a compression sack. Just don't wash it...it turned into a lumpy mess. I replaced with the same.

I usually sleep in my hammock tent if I'm roughing it and I've never felt the need for a pillow.
