R1150GS 86K whine?
First issue with my GS that I have for the 3 years I have owned it.
Whilst travelling in the higher gears there appears to be a whine sound like gears whirring, and when I turn a corner it tends to change noise. It is not real loud but it was not there before. I checked oil in the diff and g/box and its all fine, I checked the wheels for wobble they seem tight and alright, and the dont sound rumbly when spun. I also checked the alternator belt, that seems fine. The engine oil is fine, the noise is not related to engine revs so I dont think its the motor or alternator beariings. It seems to be speed related. I run a tkc80 tire on the front and suspected that it was the cause, but its has been on the bike 2 years, why should it change? No oil leaks anywhere. Bike is 2003 done 86k's Appreciate any help |

Sounds like tires to me. Maybe it's time for new ones.

Tires????
Yhea mine will whine when they flat spot, cup badly. Fuel filter??? ever changed? Pump noise would be constant... No large flakes in final drive oil right??? You will feel a FD failure in the pegs before ya hear it.

Ditto on tire check
My K60's are wearing down on the center but have more tread on the outside. On some roads I'll hear a whine which changes to a different noise when on the curves.
