Moab @ Memorial Day?

The wife wants to go to a couple of the national parks over Memorial day weekend. Conveniently, this would allow me to go do some riding. My question is: How horribly crowded will it be?

FWIW, we'll be in the motorhome "camping"...

It's big country, so you can find some space. I have been on several Memorial Day trips to Moab. The town will be crowded, but, again, not like Easter Jeep Safari crowded. Every time I have gone that weekend, it was very hot. Low 100's. So you might think about that. I have a "Water Vest" that I use when hot, it's great.

Hope you like hot weather. By early June, it's roasting. And even on Jeep Safari weekend, we have never been overly impacted by the participants. Unless you stay in town, in which case, it's a zoo. We boondock, so there is a lot of territory that's available.

Jim- if you don't want to park your "campsite" near town/amenities, there's a couple of spots I can suggest. But if you do want to be near town, then get there wed or thur morning, otherwise it'll book up fast.

I'm thinking Arches RV campground, gonna reserve in advance. They have access to the Sovereign trail system literally in their parking lot...

True statement, but "roasting" is 65-95 deg. highs early June depending on how the dice rolls with lows 35-60. Moab is not Vegas or Phoenix folks.

By late June you'd be in trouble with 85-99 deg most days and over 100 once in awhile....so maybe I should bite my tongue.

A few years ago I was in that area of Moab and Green river aorund May 15th and the temps were around 100 deg on Soveriegn and 96 in areas around Green River. This year is fixing to be hot also. Last weekend, everyday was 70-72 degrees. Our last Utah ride until Oct. 31st will be May 2nd weekend. Then it's time to start riding Colorado High country.
