Sweet.

I was in until I googled what great "oration" meant, then I was like, Meh.

I'll probably swing by if I'm not tied up. Should be fun to ask questions about things I'm interested in.

"How did you keep from breaking your nuts?"
"Did you see any mirages?"

Okay, so that's $10 to hang out with Twisty.....$10 to hang out with Tuna.....and $10 to hear Pyndon's story....can we assume there will be pancakes for breakfast????

If Squirrelly Girl shows up and drops her bike in the parking lot for us that will just be a bonus!

I am tentatively in...these days it's hard to look that far into the future!

Geez, you guys out East really know how to get after it in forums, I hope you all ride your bikes as well???

For those of you that followed my Dakar closely will know what I'm all about, for those of you that didn't, you won't have a clew.

$30 a ticket might have been steep but it pails into insignificance when you consider my cell phone bill from the Dakar alone was over 1000, yes that's over $1600 USD keeping you guys up to date with what was going on, direct from the race....every day.

Oh yeah, and then there's the photo packages you have to pay for 1000 Euro to get photo's emailed every day, again, to keep the hungry F5 crew and my supporters happy. And then there's the cost of the race, and re-mortgaging your house etc.......you get the picture.

I basically offered to take weeks off work (yes I have a full time job) to travel around the USA, flying from the UK, to tell all those that are interested and especially give all those people who kindly supported my efforts the opportunity to meet me in person and hear about my Dakar experiences first hand. My flight costs for this trip in total, no secret...$2500 (5-way multi-trip)

What am doing justifying this anyway???? Enough said, I don't really want or expect any responses to this post, just simply make your own mind up if you wish to attend or not and I hope to see you there.

Now for a bit about the evening:

My usual evenings are about 3 hours long in total, with interaction:

1) I plan to do the first 45mins about the decision, the prep and the what it took to get there.
2) There will be a break (chance for refreshments) and I will sell some raffle tickets for a fun raffle we will have at the end. This usually includes some of my LPR gear including Inferno's
3) The second 45mins will be about the race and experiences within it. I will take you into the bivouacs, the stages, the navigation, what it takes to get a top 10 stage result and how I overcame a couple of Dakar ending incidents. The challenges the team had, how it worked with my dad and what the talent is like in South America

Then we'll finish up with a load of questions and answers. I've done a few in the UK already and had great feedback from many people and groups. There will be lots of pictures, including all those that have not been seen elsewhere.

Hope this helps make your mind up. Date is still TBA for this talk but if anyone fancies riding over to the Tail of the Dragon on the Sunday after for a blast I'm up for that.

Remember, I used to live in the USA (Texas) and raced there for 4 years. I'm looking forward to proper steak more than anything

Hope we can work everything out and I'll see you all soon.

All the best everyone.

Lyndon
