If I were a Muslim girl ( and I maybe ) taking off my helmet and burka would be an insult to my religion so your common
Courtesy is now an insult . Lucky I don't live in Indonesia as I would have to sit side saddle as well .

I think It is quite obvious the the big wigs writing these policy's are white Anglo executive types

Why is it any of your's or anyone's business what I wear when I pay for fuel?

'Courtesy' is a construct and your definition of it is your construct of a construct, so why would I care what you think about my perceived breach of your personal opinion?

Until I'm legislated to do otherwise, and I will continue to stand up for my rights to not be, I'll do whatever the hell I want, thanks.

As I said in my first post in this thread, it just turns in riders abusing each other over their own personal point of view on removing helmets.

The LAW allows me to keep my helmet on if I wish.

My personal time frame and wish to not take the time involved in removing glasses, helmet, ear plugs, then having to get it all back on and comfortable is MY judgement call (and I ride all year round, it is a PITA removing a wet helmet and gear and then having to refit earplugs etc. with wet hands).

Years ago when I worked in servos I had welders from a nearby factory who would walk in to buy cigarettes still wearing their boiler suit overalls and the welding mask flipped up on top of their heads, what's the difference with a helmet?

People in hoodies, Burkas, baseball cap and sunnies, builder's hard hats, pushbike helmets and so on are not considered to be lacking in courtesy when they don't remove their head gear, so how do you figure motorcyclists are not showing courtesy by comparison?

It is MY LEGAL RIGHT to keep my helmet on if I choose to do so, and I well exericise that right.

Like religious and minority rights, we should also DEFEND our LEGAL rights, after all, our freedom is no less important than our religion.

Defend your legal right by keeping your helmet ON unless you really need to remove it for your own personal need, show we are no more a threat than hoodies or Burkas by example,

If we lose our LEGAL rights we become slaves, no longer citizens and human beings.

how many of you have had gun's/knives etc. used or threatened to be used against you.

not a nice feeling

person behind the counter is not paid much

please don't freak them out

take of ur helmet etc. full face

if you have burka on wait at the door give your payment to somebody else to pay, be nice.

respect other people,

then they might/hopefully respect you.

if not well thats what makes up this hateful world,

you haven't added to it.

cheers

2c

next time you run out of fuel the sevo guy/girl might lend you a container

not charge you $30 for it

Well this thread has shown that the majority of people do the right thing, but there is still a minority of riders out there who are giving us a bad reputation by beating there chests and shouting that no one can tell them what to do.

We have a thing called society, most seem to know how to act, but it is clear a few still have no idea...

But I recon its only about 1% who don't know how to follow simple rules.

You sound a bit self righteous and judgemental to me.

You are saying I'm among a minority and giving riders a bad name by upholding my legal right to keep my helmet on?

While spouting that your personal opinion on the topic is the correct one?

I am following the RULES when I have my helmet on, in fact I'm even following the LAW by wearing one.

In society people should be judged on who they are, not what they wear or what they believe.

"never judge a book by its cover", "innocent until proven guilty", they are things that enhance a true society, not some narrow minded person who thinks his opinion on the subject is the only right one.

My helmet stays ON by MY choice, not taken off because some wanker who doesn't even work behind the counter assumes I'm a criminal while sitting in his corporate office overseas somewhere.

You OPINION is exactly that, not a RULE, not a LAW, so I'm acting legally with what I (and others) do by keeping my helmet on.

Don't come crying to me when you have no rights left and it becomes illegal to even own or ride a motorcycle.

I'm standing up for my rights BEFORE they are taken away from me.

By memory this "rule" came into being here in nsw in the mid 90's. I consider it a "condition of entry " situation, i.e. if i want their goods/services i must comply with said "condition of entry", but all that aside, my real motivation is that i much prefer to put the poor underpaid bloke/girl behind the counter at ease, they are usually harmless indian students or recent migrants doing massive hours and here in sydney are a regular and easy target for violent assault/robbery. I just cannot fathom the confrontational attitude that some punters here are exhibiting, ffs why make enemies when you have the opportunity to make a friend. To be honest, by the time my 30 litre tank is empty i'm only too happy to get my helmet off and generally busting to use the toilet at the servo.
