Boots....

Im on the hunt and frustrated as shit! In the last three months I bought two different pairs from two decent brands and have been let down immensly. I first purchased:

Clarke "Roar" Chukkas and after two weeks had burned a hole clear through the soft rubber sole Walking about a mile a day in them. Clarkes took them back no problem.

Im now wearing a pair of Wolvering Heritage Chukka sold through Eddie Bauer. When I purchased them (online) I assumed wrongly they were made in the USA seeing as the were "Heritage" and Wolverine still makes some in the USA. They are a handsome pair of boots and I was fairly keen on them until I went to put them on this morning, after having had them for two months, and the pull strap shredded off. Will return them when Im home.

Im looking for a boot that looks good with jeans , masculine but not like I just came into town from a logging camp. Old school but not faux distressed hipster boots. Slip ons okay but I would look one hell of a poser in any cowboy styles. I like mids and chukkas no more than 7 lace eyes. Preferably made in the USA that wont break the bank...what say ye?

I have a pair of these that I bought in 2005. Have worn the shite out of them and they're still useable for work duty:

p.s. Those cap-toe Redwings are pretty badass!

I've always sworn by Clarks. I wear them as my casual/ dress shoes. Only shoes I have worn for almost a decade now.

Yes, I dress down.

I have a pair of Clarks Oxfords made in Italy that I absolutely love, that was why these boots were such an absolute let down, they were pure shit.

Just an FYI red wings take awhile to break in. Just so if you get them and wear them for a couple hours and find them extremely stiff. They are pricey to. but.... they will do sole replacements laces and stitchings for the life of the boot. They normally have amazing customer service. It kinda feels like I am trying to sell you the boot, but I know the importance of a good boot, gotta keep your dogs happy. I have walked miles upon on my current red wing pull on boots. but they are insulated so my feet sweat.

Red Wing 8138 are the most comfortable boot I've had for walking and being on my feet all day on concrete and steel.

I have not had them in years because I have to have a safety toe.

The crepe sole is the real secret.

And they make this in a chukka.

Pull on boots - RM Williams (from Australia)
hiking boots (leather or fabirc) - Zamberlan (italy)

I have had three pairs of zamberlan - only three pairs - since 1995 - GREAT boots, I have the fabric goretex boots. worn them from the tropical rainforest to the Rockies.

RM Williams, 1 pair since since 2002. I reakon I have worn them for 75% of the working days since then. I got the industrial sole version.

Thats all I got so say on the subject. Have tried others but wouldn't bother again.
