"Fans of the harsh northern nature recommend (weather permitting) to visit the village of Dalniye Zelentsy. It is 160 km from Murmansk and benzin, 80 km asphalt, then a dirt road."

Hi Ivan

Amazing pictures of Murmansk! I have had the Nordkapp as a destination in mind for some time, and would love to take in parts of Russia also! What is the best time of year to make a trip up there?

Kev

спасибо, Irlanski, or should I say Go raibh maith agat ;) .. so you think that June is a good time to ride ? - Nordkapp, Murmansk, the White Sea, back down to St Petersburg and back home would be an interesting trip! .. Was it cold in June? i was thinking that July might be a bit more hospitable.

PS. Met yesterday at the bikehotel with two riders from Latvia (bmw800 and ktm950), they plan this week to pass half the tracks that are available for their motorcycles.

Ok!
For a group of 800 are available most of the tracks on the tires K60.
Of course there is heavy tracks for light motorcycles.

Tá fáilte romhat Kev! Well, we were on Svalbard, about 500 miles north of Nordkapp on mid summers day and temp was 20 degrees, Murmansk was also about 20 degrees whilst back home it a mere 17 or thereabouts. I think June July or August should be fine up there.
St Petersburg is really a cool place...lots to see and do.
Are you going into Kola Peninsula...what kind of bike are you on?

Those tracks look like a great challenge!

One question from your experience...what motorcycle types are a good choice to use on these tracks?

Actually, 2 questions...getting your boots wet seems inevitable, any advice how to stay dry other than not putting your feet down

In fact, an experienced driver with the help of friends on the good tires will travel almost anywhere on the 800GS.
Here it is necessary to push:

To protect your feet from the water Russian riders often use the boots of the military anti-chemical suits (top motorcycle boots), are sold in fishing stores for 10$ in three sizes:
