What is considered high mileage for the 950/990?

Looking to purchase a 950/990 and am wondering what the life expentacy (mileage wise) you can expect to get out of one?

There are several folks on this site with over 100k on their bikes. I have 36k on mine and it runs like a champ!!!

I have 49K on my 05 and it runs fantastic. I would not consider any higher mileage bike without extensive service documentation.

47,000 on mine and sweet as a nut. As far as I know...

As long as regular maintenance and thorough inspections are performed, hopefully replacing key parts before they fail, then there's no real reason why your should go 'twice round the clock', or more, on a decent LC8, without too much drama.

Check out Pyndon's ouytstanding thread to see what can need doing to a 950 over the course of a 'galactic' 89,000 hard miles. And bear in mind a lot of the niggles with the early bikes, like Pyn's, were ironed out in later years.

Cheers,

Michael

Mine

Bought my 07 used from another inmate w 46k on it. Paid 6k and got a killer deal. It was maintained with receipts and runs flawlessly. Put cj's waterpump on it, 16t front sprocket and throttle cam and have no worries at all. Now has 51k and I wouldn't trade her for the world.

Awesome! Thanks guys!! Well the hunt is on! Just gotta find one now :) my budget is fairly capped at 6500 so I'm looking on the low end of the price range for them. But I'm daily checking the flea market and craigslist!

Just shy of 60,000 miles on mine, runs just like it did when it was new and I have not been easy on it by any means.

$6500 should buy you a 950/990. Remember, the posted price is not the going price.

Thats an understatement! If you see Crash's bike in classifieds ("Never raced or rallied, one careful professional owner"), even for less than 6500, run. Run a long way

That's a good way to look at it!! I always kinda figure in 200 off the price and I hatevto be the low baller who asks for 700 off. But with this budget I may have to get a bit more aggressive LOL
