Nantahala Ice Breaker March 21-24, 2013

I've been itching to get out and ride so I decided to host a little event at the cabins to kick off my cabin season. This event is limited to 14 riders including myself. This will keep the congestion on the trails down to a minimum. As always, the riding is free and at your own risk.

For $40 a head, you'll get a warm bed in a double occupancy bedroom or a bunk cabin for 3 nights (Thur-Sat) Couples will get a private room and singles will get a roommate. (I guess you could pay $80 if you wanted to be your own roommate) If you're in a bunk cabin, you'll need to bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. If you're in the house, the beds already have linens. I'll provide bath towels for anyone needing them.

For meals, I will have the kitchen in the Nantahala House accessible and I thought it would be fun to do most of our meals as a group. I will ask for volunteers to prepare supper for each of the 3 nights (Thur, Fri and Sat) We can figure out who is making what later. I will have coffee and can do some mega batches of scrambled eggs and/or pancakes for the mornings. Lunches will be out so folks can pack their own or take a few bucks to buy a sandwich.

We'll be staying in the Nantahala House and the bunk cabins. As I stated above, it will be double occupancy. First come, first serve so if you want a room in the house, you better slap your money down!

I'll be riding mostly dual sport with lots of fast gravel and some unimproved roads. If you've ridden with me before, you've probably seen most of it. There may be some new stuff. We'll be riding Thursday afternoon, all day Friday and Saturday and maybe a little ride Sunday. Wayehutta is closed til April 1st so we won't be able to go over there.

This is going to be a hoot. Think of it as a bunch of college kids renting a beach house during spring break without the wild gratuitous sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. Who's in????

PS: I'll edit this as more info becomes available.

Unsure of my travel schedule at this point. If there's still room once my schedule firms up I'll be there.

Damn, need to sell the TE610 and get started building another bike, so I better not commit yet. Hope you've still got space when those projects are done. Absolutely love the riding up there.
Joe, what do y'all call that trail where we split up at the top? Markr and the blue KTM went to highway and rest of us weren't back down the rocky road

Clint, I think you are referring to Buffalo Cr and Squally. We will definitely be heading that way again.

You must be thinking of the Nantahala Sin Fest coming up later in the year. That one will only costs $4000 a head and will be for one night only. Unfortunately, neither of you are invited to that one.

If I help cover part of your $4000, can I at least watch?

Dang it Joe! this is the same weekend as the marchmotomadness. I had a blast riding with you and the good reverend last fall. It looks like it will be a full year before we do it again. Have a great ride and post plenty of pics!

Bill,

I'm really sorry to hear that. Good on you for being a volunteer fireman. I know it is a real time commitment. We will miss you but there is always the Spring Fling. I say come out anytime you can make it. You know I'll do you a good deal on a bunk cabin and I would love the excuse to get away for a ride.

aplscrambles,

This was the only weekend I could make it work. Let me know when you want to head to Wayehutta. It's only 20 minutes from my house though I know you can ride circles around me.

crpntr,

Sorry for the conflict but I'm sure we'll be riding some of the same trails. Maybe we'll bump into you. Tell Laura I said Hi!

Mike,

We have an opening for a piano player.

Joe yur killn me.
I thought this was the Spring Fling. No chance of doing both an I leaning more towards this one. It gives a little more time to recuperate before the RDV.

Oh, an ignore the in the Fling thread. Ignorant POS has know idea how much fun these are.

.. as for that asshat in the other thread .. well .. I could not help myself and had something to say about it .. my apologies for speaking for anyone ..
