tag experts, need adivse

we are doing a tag event on our local forum. The current tag is this ( we allow older photos from your hard drive )

This is the French King bridge from River rd.

Today someone got it and used this as the photo

I say, no tag. Clearly not in the right spot. But it is the French King bridge Am I being too picky? What do you all think?

I would say no tag. They are not even on the same road. You're supposed to do a reasonable job of reproducing the original photo. That's not even close.

Just my $0.02...

Lets go to the rulebook

My $.02

What do the rules say in your tag game? Each tag-o-rama seems to have mostly the same rules. Some have slight variations, but for the most part, we agree on things like duplicating the previous tag as best as possible. According to how we play it, no, that's not a valid tag. But if your rules dont specify that the original photo has to be duplicated as best as possible, and that is indeed the right location, then yes, it's a good tag.

Depends if the new tag is closer to me than River Rd. in Erving.

But why listen to me I went and had breakfast in Plainville Sun. morning without checking the MA tag

Rule book needs to be re written. Actually Im doing this right now with another member and we disagree on this. Thats why Im asking all you, for moral support

I think you need to recreate the original photo, he thinks the bridge is the tag and as long as you get the bridge its fine. Im letting this one stand because the rules were not really explained. But for future tags Im trying to prevent this type of stuff.

thanks for you comments

you're not being picky, they are not even close.
It is obviously more challenging to get the original tag
You allow file photos??

Yes we do, I think it makes the game much more fun. It spreads the game around a bit, no waiting for the next tag, and your able to put up better places to go to.

I know it's not my tag o rama but,,,, I can't understand the reasoning for the file photo thing. As far I'm concerned the point of the game is to ride, to drop a tag and retrieve a tag.

Oh yeah,,, I say not tag here either. Reproducing the original was not even close.

In Maine we are NO FILE PHOTOS and you must try to get the same shot.. Your example is ... well.. that is lame.. they didn't even come close to trying to get the same picture... they are not ON the same road as you when you took the picture.... I suppose one could throw a taunt of some sort relating to barges and turning radii and actually getting to said spot.. but that isn't the topic here...

In reality it is whatever you in your game decide to do as a group.

So if file photos are ok to you... does the item in the photo have to exist still? Is there an age limit. Does a good photoshop get the tag,??heck if I am clever enough and have some stock photography, I could play the game without leaving the house!..

no tag

I TAKE A PICTURE OF THE PHOTO THAT IS ON MY COMPUTER AND TRY TO GET A VERY SIMILAR SHOT BY WALKING AROUND THE TAG SITE WITH MY CAMERA AND LOOKING AT THE PHOTO . SOMETIMES GETTING A BETTER SHOT THAN THE ORIGINAL IS NICE .
FOR THIS PARTICULAR SHOT IN QUESTION, HOW COULD SOMEONE CLAIM IT AS A TAG WITHOUT HAVEING THE STRUCTURE OF THE BRIDGE IN THE PHOTO ????????????

I tried that for the first time today, snapped a pic of my screen for reference when I got to the area. If I didnt do that I probably wouldnt have found the exact spot in today's NYC tag. I got it tho...

Sorry no tag!

Might be the right location, but at least try to get the same element in the photo.
