You can expect it to be hot, rainy, or snowy.

Noah rode up north last year in May and faced some not so great conditions but still doable :http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...=781893&page=9

The last few years winter has ran late so I think we are overdue for an earlier spring...

You're gonna get weather.....followed by more weather.

Really...its a crap shoot up here. Could be great or it could be downright miserable.

The last two years in a row Ft St John has had snow on the May long weekend....

You can not safely plant in your garden mid-June in Canmore/Banff.
You can safely plant May 24 in Nelson.
Ask your garden friends what that means...

Frost can come before that and we have had snow in every month in Canmore. Rain in the both places in June. June always seems worse than May in both places.

Interesting responses.. I will be staying on the paved roads so it sounds like I need to be prepared for the cold and rain.. it will still be beautiful nonetheless.

Breathtaking scenery through there. Unchallenging motorcycle wise,,,,but, there it is.

prepare yourself

just south of Calgary, AB May 30th, 2010

At least we were headed south - It got a little less cold, but rained all the way to Idaho.
That time of year snow is not guaranteed, but is not unexpected, especially at altitude.

We had sleet/snow/driving rain when we camped and travelled through Lake Louise back in 2008 - in July!. All the bikers were huddled under road side shelters waiting it out. It was 30 degree Celcius weather in the Kootenays at the same time.
