Terlingua Trip

First ride report so hold off on throwing the rotten tomatoes . I love to ride and love to take pictures, I don't like to talk much so you're in luck!

My friend and I set out for a 3 day run through Terlingua, hitting both state and national parks and trying to stay on as much dirt as we could.

Sunrise on the first day, everyday you are treated to the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets. We were up @ 5:30 each morning so we got to see them all while riding. Amazing!

This was the weekend of the big TWT meet up, we weren't a part of that group but had a good time running into riders wherever we went, lying to each other about how treacherous the road we were just on was

Scot and I (Scot with his KLR and me with my DR) at what we dubbed "Boob Mountain". One day into the ride and we were already getting a little loopy

The terrain here was different than anything I'd ever ridden. It seemed to change every 2 or 3 miles, even the shadows from the cloud kept the scenery dancing. It was like a living thing we were riding through.

And the only way to end a ride in Texas is with as much cow as you can fit on a grill. *Shiner Bock's pictured seperatly

Next morning we fuel up the bikes and ourselves and set off to run 170 up to Presidio.

All pavement but one of the best roads I've ever been on. Great twisties and elevation changes and vistas you have to see to believe.

Did a quick run through Big Bend State Park on the way back.

Then more vistas!! Here's Scot deep in thought after we had a quick lesson teaching Harley's how to ride the twisties...

This is how ADV riders do the typical Texas family bluebonnet picture

A second amazing day. Heading home into another beautiful sunset.

Last day was another great mix of pavement and dirt. Went into the national park first thing in the morning.

Stopped off at the Santa Elena Canyon Trail

Water was low so I crossed into Mexico!!

heading back again on this strange black non-dirt substance...

We rode all day for three days. Saw amazing sites, ran into some old friends, found some new ones, contributed to the local economy through continuous beer purchases and made memories enough to last a lifetime...or at least until the next trip

Agreed, amazing pics. The Big Bend region is truly spectacular - not to be missed off or on road!

I'll have to check out that movie now. Riding out there was so interesting, felt like the landscape of Mars at times

Great scenery!I need to go back there sometime soon. My wife and I really enjoyed the riding and hiking when we were there several years back.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Wed-Sunday. Perfect weather this time of year, mid 80's in the day and mid 50's at night.
