70MPH into the ground
Im not saying who (He can if he wants too) and I ask those who know the machine to respect that) A friend of mine who is a member here had a front tire/tube blowout and went down at about 70MPH last night. He and his Pillion were ATGATT and after hitting the pavement were both fine other than minor bruising. The Bike fared very well.
![]() Crashbar sustained serious damage ![]() Bag is scraped bad but is still plenty useable ![]() Scraped the Bark Busters pretty good. ![]() The worst damage is the front rim got scraped up bad but with a few minutes work of a file will be okay ![]()

They are scraped pretty deeply and need to be replaced but they did the job they were designed to do.

Tire: Punctured or tube/bead failure? Tubed, Tubeless, balance beads, static or dynamically balanced?
Sorry, it's the DCI in me - I need to know

Factory mounted tire, Stock, Unaltered. Tube. Tire itself looked fine and we couldnt find any puncture marks.

tubed tires
I have to say, while I understand the need for spokes on a bike that is ridden off-road, I wouldn't trust a tubed tire at higher speed. A tubeless tire doesn't usually blow up.
I know some people modify the rim to mount tubeless tires using some sort of goo on the spoke heads. How well does that work, and what happens when you tighten the spokes? |

Are you sure it was 70MPH and not 7? That bike looks great for a front rim blowout at freeway speed. Glad to hear that no one was badly injured, too. That's about the best outcome you can ask for with a high-speed get-off.

Does he know what the tire pressure was? Unless tube was defective you would think you would have to generate some serious heat to cause a failure.
One of the first things I did to the SE was fit heavy duty tubes. But I generally do not see much slab time on it.

I have heard that the HD tubes built more heat on the big bike...
