Sucks going down, and even worse at speed. Glad to hear you and the GF walked away unscathed Bert.

If you need that hub to help get her going again let me know, I can always pick up another one later on.

Take a look inside your tire. Here is a problem I have had.

Went down at around 70 without crash bars. I was fine, ATGATT. Bike was rideable after I welded the handle bars back together, beat on some stuff with a hammer and zip tied a lot of stuff back together. The plastic guard on the tank wore through and scraped up the tank a little, but didnt put a hole in it. The next day I rode it 500 miles back to San Diego to order up parts. I was sore and moving a little slow because of the tumble, but that's about it. I was lucky.

No doubt that crash bars help IMO. But, I was surprised that the tank didnt wear through on my bike. I did hit the ground pretty damned hard, hence the broken handle bars and trashed front sub-frame.

Got some parts, slapped em on, crossed the border again 10 days later, and rode another 45,000 miles until I got back to San Diego. I took the scenic route. These are tough bikes, no doubt about it.

Wow 5K! Glad you came out unhurt on that deal. I have always been a little paranoid of front blowouts. You obviously handled that one very well.

Hey, now, dont go fixing that bike up so nice that youre afraid to throw it down in the rocks.

You had a very good day!

Nothing like standing up and feeling everything -- but not feeling any particular part of your body -- and 2x the fun with 2 of you.

Sounds like a great opportunity to customize your bike to me.
