Interesting considering it's completely not true.
43% of the military recruits in 07 (last year I could find) come from the entire southeast.
With only ~22% being from the "south atlantic" which includes WV, Md, Va, NC, SC, Ga, and Fl. (I can't tell from the picture if DC is included)

Every state has it's good and bad. Every state has people that moved there and love it, and people that moved out and hate it.
Personally, I could live anywhere, but I kind of like it here. Not too far from anything I'd want to do. Be it the beach, 4 wheeling, dirt bikes, fishing, boating, etc.
But the main reason I live here? I have a job here.

I have lived in central NC for 28 years. There are some opportunities to be had, but your daughter would probably be much better off in the Raleigh area if she can afford it. Personally, I would much prefer Charlotte if I had the option. The Asheville area is nice if you are of that type. Lots of work here to those who are willing. I agree with just about everything wb57 has said.
