The old red metal Coleman coolers...

can you still find them anywhere? You know the ones I am talking about. Circa late 70s or so. I am fighting a losing battle with nostalgia here lately and would like to find one.

We have one of those for our Teardrop trailer, ours is all brushed stainless. It's tolerably durable. If you are an REI member, wait for your discount coupons and buy one from them, save some bucks.

It's all plastic inside, of course.

Certainly the coolers of my youth. Ours were green though.

Possibly the first word I learned to spell was "Ice"-I remember helping my Dad search for a place with ice on our yearly camping trips in the late '50s-early '60s. We would pull off the road somewhere, drag out that heavy green Coleman cooler, and open the drain to let out all the ice melt-then make sandwiches from the cold meat and lettuce that had been floating around in the cooler.

A quick search of eBay for vintage Coleman coolers yields some promising results.

I have a baby blue one and a green one....both found at thrift stores for a couple bucks. Amazingly in good shape as in "like new".

Beat up blue one "dump find" in my bush car as a tools/tow straps and shackles box.

Sister still has the green family one from way back in the 60's.

One of my friends has a brand new one, never used in the box and no he won't sell it. Vintage "in the box" I have seen them at $100.00 in antique stores.

I think one of my siblings has our family's pink one. My mom's favorite color was pink, so that's what we got. I ended up with the stove.

Thanks for the time machine, I had forgotten those until you mentioned them.
